Hey any AK brahs in here? I have an older Romanian AK parts kit with uncut barrel and new receiver I never built. Problem is it has some surface rust and possibly pitting due to improper storage.

Is it salvageable?

Just ventured around Chattanooga a bit and not a single Ar-15 or AKM was seen...Also...maybe since I'm one of the few "conservative" type black guys that I know (Thus I was the only black guy at any of these gun shops) but I felt a lot of the workers were being extremely rude when I asked did they have any .223 or 7.62R rifles. The south. Not even once.

My buddy knows a guy with alot of Mosins and AKs. Probably gonna grab one of each from him. However if any of you guys find a steal on a Ar or legit AK let me know. Help your military bro out !

Barrel is not chrome-lined and picky with mags but a mid range ak... If you want an ak, its priced right in this craze.

I personally wouldn't buy it if I had a choice.

I used to have a PTR-91 some years ago. Very accurate, fun to shoot, but quite a heavy gun.

I forget the exact details, but PTR makes the best H&K 91 clones. They bought the machinery to manufacture the PTR directly from H&K (I believe, don't mark my words) and licensed the rights etc. etc. You can easily confirm with a google search... but I could be wrong.

I'd love to get another one, but I like to shoot often and .308 is too damn expensive for me right now.

must have FFL to purchase, or at least that's how I read it. Trust me I sent my dad there and the LGS told him they wouldn't even mess with getting that one because of how busy they were.

I saw and acknowledged that post, I think threw you my poverty greens and a thank you message...unless I'm confusing you with another brospehina.

But, I just didn't like that gun at that price. I was reading reviews on it and they were mostly great but the guns pictured seemed to have a much better finish and were $379 ('09...fml man, I was flush with cash and the price was lower)

Anyways, I made a post couple pages back that I truly am banking on these prices coming down some after this initial hysteria and that the hi-cap mag will be all to pass. I hope I'm right, but agree it doesn't look good right now.

But FOR ME...already owning an SKS...it's hard to pay $700 for AK's that you feel should be $400 max...

Thanks for that post though...I may end up buying that anyways...I'm just praying cooler heads prevail over the lib/beta/emotion

CTD screwed themselves, whether they meant to or not. If their intention from the get-go was simply to regroup regarding their policies and make sure they were in order . . . their initial messaging strongly left the impression that they were dropping firearm sales. Below is what they posted to their FB page yesterday that started the crapstorm. It doesn't mention "temporary" or why. And the wording leaves the impression that they "would be the leader in the market with their other stuff without guns." Now . . . whether they meant that or not--their pr/marketing/exec team should have known that wording would be construed a particular way by the pro-gun crowd who makes up their best customers.



They've been massaging their FB posts to try and emphasize the "temporary" thing and massaged it even more to say they will sell again. But the hardcore damage is largely done, IMHO. Either they MEANT to suspend gun sales as a cave-in to the anti-gun pressure and decided against it because their customers were revolting in masses. Or they really were just doing an internal review . . . but HORRIBLY hosed up the messaging to where people got the wrong idea.

Either way . . . CTD royally effed this up.
