Was told to bring a change of gym clothes.
Guess I'm going to be putting someone through a mock up training session.
Could a equinox trainer be so kind as to tell me what I should expect?
These places have their own unique way of doing things, would really appreciate some incite.
My training buddies are telling me I'm overreacting and that I probably know more then most trainers out there but I really need to land this job.
Any information or tips are very much appreciated!
Interview is on Monday, will gladly share my experience.
Thanks!

Had my interview.
They asked me the usual...
What are your strengths, weaknesses, why did I decide to become a PT.
Did I have previous experience training clients, do I have any current clients.
Am I available full time.
What can I offer a client.
How would I approach a client.
They then had me do a practical training assessment with one of the trainers there.
Squat assessment for postural imbalances, proper form, signs of imbalances, corrections.
They then had me take the "client" to some of the machines.
To assist her in some of the motions.
Chest press for example, they asked me how I would progress this exercise, or degress.
Simple stuff, try and stay cool and you should do fine.
I have another interview next week will let you guys know what happens.

After all that I got an email a week later...
"We decided to pursue other candidates."
I had asked what my chances were at the interview, they said they have been interviewing vigorously and are looking for the "right fit"
In a reply to my rejection email I had asked for some constructive criticism as I always strive for improvement, but to no avail.
I've got about 10 years of sales experience under my belt, and just passed my ISSA exam 3 weeks ago because that is one of the Certs they suggested I take.
Is it unheard of to get hired as a PT in Equinox with out actual experience?
Was under the impression that they only allow you to do floor shifts until they put you through a vigorous in-house employee training anyway.
Just looking for answers here so I can possibly go back and interview again when I get more experience, any comments or remarks would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Eric

Constructive criticism...
Your credentials as a trainer are that you took an open book/note and untimed test to say you know your stuff, then applied to one of the most expensive/exclusive commercials gyms.
You say you have about a decade of sales experience... they'll sooner take you to be a membership councilor over a trainer.
Sorry but without any actual training experience and that cert chances are EQNX will not be hiring you any time soon.
However this is not to say you can't get a job as a trainer, but rather that snoody gyms like this are looking for something different.IG: @West_Whey

To shred
Thanks a very honest opinion, I just got hired by 24 hour fitness as a trainer.
Already studying for NASM, and am enrolling in a exercise science program at a local community college, since anatomy and physiology was a previous major of mine.
I guess I will approach EQ again once I pass and have a 100 sessions or so under my belt.
Any advice towards this goal is again very appreciated.
Thanks! And happy holidays all!
Eric
