Cold day in hell
Excuse actually made me lol
My gym partner is always coming up with excuses why he can't make it to the gym. I do a five day split of which he usually makes one or two days a week. It's gotten to te point I just tell him when I'm going and refuse to change my schedule because he always has a last minute excuse. Well last nights actually left me pretty speechless so I thought I'd take a screenshot and share it. Had to edit out a little of the convo but the excuse was priceless. Anybody else get this from their partners.

I hope 'doing laundry' is his code for 'sexing the wife'. If not, have your buddy turn in his man card

Which brings up a good question.
sex before lifting or lifting before sex.
cause both put me in a relaxed state of euphoria and I dont feel like doing much after either

Sadly no code there. I think the card may have been gone a long time ago now.

For me after. Something about a good workout gets me energized.

I'm not that bright
Does he wash his clothes in the river, beating them with a stick?
Actually, it's not the washing and drying that sucks, it's the folding!
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

I'd say you don't really have a gym "partner" in any meaningful sense of the word. More like a buddy who maybe likes to say he works out with you. Time to keep the friend but find a new workout partner, no?
It's 80% diet, 20% workout and 100% in the mind.
If you can read or carry on a conversation, you ain't working out.
To be different the only thing you have to do is stand fast when the herd moves.
Parking your s**t on a bench ain't the same thing as using it!

Pretty much spot on although I can't be bothered getting another partner. I don't need to be motivated and theres plenty of spotters in the gym all the time.

I'd rather train alone than deal with that ****.
Which I guess is why I haven't had a training partner since about 1993.

Ya sometimes it's not really worth it. He's a very close friend and we both started about the same time but I can count my missed workouts over the last three yrs on one (maybe 2) hands so now it takes longer to change out plates on bars than it does to lift the weights.

Seriously for me when it comes to lifting I don't give a phcuk how good a friend he is.
When I first started lifting seriously I trained with my best friend; we went to the local community center, but we trained regularly. They closed it for 2 weeks to renovate. My next door neighbor (who didn't even look like he lifted) was a member of Powerhouse and got me a week pass there. My buddy/training partner wouldn't even come with me to check it out. He was bigger than me, never trained legs, and I guess he was happy being the big fish in a small pond.
I wanted MOAR.
I joined Powerhouse and left his ass behind. Ran into him about a year ago at my gym and he didn't even look like he lifted. I was talking about my deadlifts and squats and how good my training was going. He said something like "What do you want to be, a monster? We're in our 40's. I'm going for the beach bod."

Yeah, I'm with you there. Guess maybe he was a charity case all along, huh?

If "doing the laundry" is the guy's code word for sex, he and his lame excuses make me think he probably does most of his loads by hand.

The show goes on
I'm like flex, I dont train around a workout partner.
I do have people join me for training sometimes, but they do my workout on my schedule or they don't train with me.
Why should I change my routine for someone who will probably quit in a month or 2, or only show up once or twice per week.

Son of a beach
That was, without a doubt, the most lame excuse I've seen to skip a session.
I'd have been hard pressed for the response it deserves. Agreed on the man-card revoking.
Laundry? Hell yes, all the time.
Fold? Not even once.
Was somewhat surprised when my buddy made it to yesterday's AM session. He'd been trying to push the time back until late afternoon, when his GF's ex is normally there.....seems he wants to see for himself if the dude is following her around the gym. Gym drama.....do not want. Buddy is one hilarious hombre, though. The trash he'd have talked would have been funny.

There was a time I would adjust for him but not in a long time now. Now I just tell him when I'll be there and if he makes it he makes it. Funny thing is he doesn't get why he's not pushing the same weight as me, I told him "when you only make chest day once every 3 weeks it's tough to gain.
