Has anyone, or anyone know an individual who has gotten in pre contest shape, or very low body fat with iffym? People seem to think its a revelation, but I am still skeptical.

I think there's just a huge misunderstanding of IIFYM. My take on it is that it's a meme which translates as bodybuilders don't have to eat ONLY boiled chicken, brown rice, and broccoli for 6 months.
I took top 5 in all my shows this year and I had a diet replete with micro-nutrient dense food sources (veggies, sweet potatoes, etc.) with lean meats and egg whites, and I also had frozen yogurt and other "taboo" bodybuilder foods throughout the entire prep (again, as long as these foods fit my macronutrient ranges for the day).

I agree I get a wide variety of proteins, fats, and carbs, wouldn't say I'm deprived or " or limited to just chicken and sweet potatoes" but a lot of people claim mcdonalnds, burger king, ice cream etc, I just find that hard to believe, epseicaly since some and most of these are empty cals that spike insulin.

McD's and Burger King are fine when "dieting" as long as the calories in said food sources fit that person's macronutrient targets. Unless they're able to get away with a high fat diet while still leaning out, which probably means they'll have to cut these restaurants out or at least opt out of super sizing, they'll probably eat elsewhere.
I found that the lower my calories got it was just more comfortable to eat "cleaner" foods since they're usually more voluminous.

Anyone have that picture from Mike Mentzer's book where he talks about eating pancakes pre-contest?
EDIT: Found it

So then I might as well say **** it all,Post workout doesnt count, avoiding carbs at night doesnt count either then because thats irrelevant..thats all I'm hearing. Why are many nutritionists, fitness experts, and gurus so dramatic on which macronutrient you choose and how it comes? What matters is calories in vs calories out, what if I'm eating a 2 cups of raisen bran for breakfast, chocolate for a snack, chicken sandwich and a baked potato for lunch, then low fat spaghetti for dinner? All while maintaining a caloric deficit, Where as anyone following this retarded diet iv clearly just displayed would be highly criticized. If insulin is present and constant fat burning is blunted.

The good ol' days when bodybuilders gave advice to help young lifters. Nowadays most just give the advice that make the supplement company sponsoring them happy.
Forget all that insulin makes you fat baloney. Mentzer had it right 35 years ago, somehow common sense in the general public has gone out the window recently regarding nutrition.
While the names of food you eat may differ a minuscule amount in TEF the laws of thermodynamics still holds true. Energy cant be created or disappear into thin air. Cals in vs Cals out.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.

If you're a normal, healthy individual, forget everything you've ever heard from the news, friends, bros at the gym, magazines, etc. Hit your protein, fat, carbs, micros, and fiber how ever the hell you want. It doesn't matter. The only thing you should try to avoid is trans fat. Just be realistic about it. Moderation goes a long way.
