What? That doesn't sound right at all, actually, unless he started training yesterday.

If he can't bench more than 175, it's a technique/training issue... it has nothing to do with gaining more muscle or supplementation.

Simple answer is if you want to be good at something do it often. If you just want bigger numbers on the bench then do that exercise more often. If you are doing it once a week move it to twice or even three times per week. Two heavy days and a high repetition high volume day will help.

I came from a really small high school with a really small football team as in the numbers so we took anyone we could get so in the weight room there was a lot of people and not all of them strong. There was a kid he was around 6'2 230 and me and my friends would call him big for nothing cause he couldn't even bench 135 when we were already benching 225+ it's not that he was benching wrong he just didn't push himself like me and my friends did. First I would recommend a spotter that always gave me new personal records witch means more weight just because your big doesn't mean your strong hard work is what it take if your looking to increase the numbers in the gym.

    This!

Even with good diet and enough rest, he will never increase much strenght without good bench training/technique. If you want to increase your bench, do benchpress program. And shape your bench technique.

I once had an issue with...completing something prematurely. I worked at correcting it very hard. I was on a 'training' program that consisted of 2-3x/day of training. I perfected my technique, sometimes changing my hand position. Eventually I overcame this difficult time and practice made perfect.

I have no problem with bench press.

You've probably been training a lot longer than him too. You might be leaner at those stats giving you more LBM. There are a ton of different reasons.

could be your long arms if your 6,2 ,people will always disagree on this and im sure i will get trolled but taller guys with longer arms shouldnt really be touching their chests the bar only needs to come just past 90 degrees or your setting yourself up for rotator cuff injuries

not to discredit anything that anyone above has said, but i don't think there's enough information given to determine what the issue is. could be one of several different issues, or a combination of multiple ones. we don't even know his age, let alone any other variables.

more info OP if you actually want help.

this, try searching technique vids on youtube. I think Mehdi from Stronglifts does a good job of showing proper form.

Please stop giving bad advice like this.

I'm 6'2, bench with proper form and have had no rotator cuff issues. I do regular rotator cuff work, which for some reason or another is overlooked by a lot. Think about your comments next time you post some stupid sh!t like this.
