in I guess lurked forever but will try this the way you guys seem to talk ITT..I just finished making a sh*tload of cookies macadamians,pecans/chocolate mix & peanut butter cookies & may roast some marshmellows over a candle tonight bcuz I don't feel like making a fire.I pulled a muscle in my thigh a month ago still hurts like h*ll at times just stepping wrong can cause issues I told myself I was going to try Clovis today which is 150 burpee pull ups & a 10 mile run but the h*ll with it will just do burpee pull ups in a few minutes.I am suppose to be going to the dentist tommorrow to get two of my front teeth fixed thank god.hope everyone had a good thanksgiving!

Not that I was aware of. His father and I started dating when I was 15... I got pregnant at 16, had Trey at 17. I basically raised Trey alone because his dad was always out in the streets hanging out with friends and just being a kid. For the first 5 years we were together he would leave me about every 6 months for a new girl that he thought he was going to be with. I was young and stupid and had this dream of having a family and was willing to do whatever to make it work. When we were together just over 6 years, I just had that feeling that I was never going to be able to get over how he'd made me feel so many times and I told him that we needed to split because I just couldn't trust him, a week later I found out I was pregnant with our second son. We agreed to get married and try to fix things, we bought a house, but I still had that guy feeling something was wrong. I told him that for some reason I still felt like I couldn't trust him, about 2 weeks after he admitted that he'd been cheating on me with a mutual friend that he worked with. He'd been going to her house during their lunch breaks. We split then for the final time and I filed for divorce.
I felt like Trey had been through this so many times with his dad leaving that he was used to it and he would finally be able to feel secure knowing that things weren't going to change and i'd be that solid rock he needed.

Ugotitbad.... it is a phase, notice how he connected getting in trouble with trust?? trust has nothing to do with the amount of times you have been in trouble. also, the divorce itself probably hurt his ability to trust you guys because during that process you probably told him things like "dont worry about it" "everything is going to be ok"... normally thats ok, but for younger children reassuring them of something that isnt true can cause problems.

personally, i would talk with him, but i wouldnt push the point at issue too hard because if u treat him with love and give him good values he will learn to appreciate what you are doing for him in the long run despite a divorce.

Yeah, we share custody because I don't want the boys to lose out on spending time with either of us. I have them for a week then he has them for a week. We live like a mile or two apart so it's not a big deal.

keep giving him good values and making sure he makes progress in the right directions and there is nothing else you can do. you cant change how someone feels; and feelings do change with time. especially with parents. the way i feel about my parents now is 500% different than it was 5 years ago. the same will be true with you.... just give it time and continue being a good mother and role model.

Has he rebelled, distanced, or just been declining in a certain area in his everyday life? Does he get to see his father regularly? Obviously, there needs to be a discussion with both him and you. A talk with you, your ex and him would be beneficial as well...just to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Like Nvrstop said, we don't really know the back round of the story...but from what I just read, this just looks like a lack of communication from your boy...he is entering that age where tweenagers just zone out in that respect...so...yea.

Has he rebelled, distanced, or just been declining in a certain area in his everyday life? Does he get to see his father regularly? Obviously, there needs to be a discussion with both him and you. A talk with you, your ex and him would be beneficial as well...just to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Yeah it's sad, because now that I read that it makes me wonder how I missed it. His teachers have said they believe he has ADD and we've been having a battle with the school since he was in 1st grade because we don't want to put him on medication. But that was long before our divorce. He is starting to do better in school, but I thought that was because he was getting older and starting to realize the importance.
I think that Trey has had to try and protect my feelings so he hasn't shown that he's been hurt. His little brother is a daddy's boy and for the first year of our divorce, my youngest son wouldn't say that he loved me, he wouldn't hug me and he hated to be around me. It turned out that my exes mom (she was our daycare) was brainwashing my son and basically making him feel like he needed to choose a parent that he loved. Almost as soon as I got different childcare, everything changed. But anyway, Trey saw all of that and would comfort me when I was crying was telling me that he loved me and that his brother didn't know what he was talking about. But Trey has always been there for me like that. Every time his dad would leave Trey would comfort me and sit on my lap hugging me when i'd cry.

Seriously though, it doesn't surprise me that he'd turn to his friends for support at this time rather than his mom or dad. Kid's trying to find his way and develop a sense of self. No matter how awesome a mom you are you're still his mom (and that's not a bad thing).

As long as you're willing to communicate and he knows that you're there for him he'll come around.

That's great about the shared custody thing too. But obviously you don't know what his dad is saying to him during that time. Not saying he would be slagging you off but he might casually mention that "UgotItbad said she'd never throw me out" or stuff like that - even if he was talking to a friend and Trey overheard. I don't know. I do think a family meeting would be a good idea, with all of you, just to make sure you and their dad are consistent.

Skip the candles. Light one burner/element on your stove. (Gas, electric, flat, voils, no matter!) Roast marshmallows over that. Srs. Candles don't get hot enough to melt th einside and can give a weird sooty/perfumed taste.

Random 1st world problem/topic.

I think this site (and bodybuilding in general) has fuked up my perception of women. I was at the Aria Poker room the other night (good spot for eye candy club chicks) and any women that walked by I would immediately critique her figure. I don't even look at most women unless they look like they lift. Face is like the last thing I look at. One of the waitresses was trying to have a convo with me and I couldn't get over her minor arm flab even though overall she had a pretty face, thin figure with a massive chest; most guys would find her attractive.

Anyone else know this feel?

I also think I'm developing a cougar/milf problem but that's a whole other issue...

just to add a few cents...

i'd make sure that whatever you promise your boys to follow up on... not saying you dont already, but it will start to rebuild trust, in small steps. sort of like how the "how i met your mother episdoe" where marshall had to rebuild his marshal stamp of approval reputation... start small & dont promise anything you can't deliver on.

and tbh, it sounds like from what you said in the thread it maybe the ex & his mother he doesn't trust. or confused by conflicting information from either side.
