Saw the trailers for Arnolds new film "The Last Stand" and it looked pretty good, but the one I thought looked excellent was "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters". Hard not to like a film that has a kickass crossbow which acts like a gatlin gun, if you are into that sort of thing.
I've read and heard a lot about the new flic; "Lincoln." I've not dragged my *%& to the movies in years, but that is one that I might just buy a ticket for and make my way to the theater. I like movies based on history. LOL I laid around today and watched "Gone With the Wind" in Spanish! "Why frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" loses something in the translation! LMAO But, Lord, that music...it just about takes your breath away. Cinema can be quite an 'escape' when it's done well!
I like for a movie to leave an imprint on me long after the fact! They cost so freakin' much anymore, you've got to have something. LOL

Lol, they remade Red Dawn, the first one was horrible! Hope the new one is at least a good action flick, definitely waiting to see it on dvd though.
I heard that in the remake, the invaders were supposed to be Chinese, but apparently we didn't want to offend them, so it was going to be switched to North Koreans or something like that. Uhm, ya, they can't even feed thier own people but they're going to invade us. The Chinese symbols and whatnot had to be digitally blurred/removed/switched from what footage was already shot. It's a PC world............
Why is it that old people don't like the movie theaters and want to watch everything at home on a DVD?
I will never understand old people.
Because the only fukker interrupting the movie at my house is me, and there's always parking.
2 + 2 = 5 (for extremely large values of 2)
You are not a snowflake. "It is in no way possible, either by mechanical, thermal, chemical, or other devices, to obtain perpetual motion, i.e. it is impossible to construct an engine which will work in a cycle and produce continuous work, or kinetic energy, from nothing."
Life of PI was a very odd flick but also very good. Cloud Atlas was too long, dull in some stretches and enlightening in others. Rise of the Guardians is something I want to take my kids to whenever it comes to Japan. Remake of Red Dawn was okay, nothing special.

They also had a trailer for yet another Die Hard movie, it looked decent but I seriously doubt I would spend theater $$$ to see that one. Hell it was bad enough coughing up $29 for the wife and I to view Skyfall in IMAX.
Interesting film from Denmark called 'Teddy Bear', aboot a bodybuilder who lives with his terror of a mother and goes to Thailand to find true love. Very offbeat humor but nice. Kim Kold stars. From what I read, he used to be a pretty decent soccer player until he hurt his Achilles tendon and took up rehab which led to bodybuilding. Worth a watch, and yes, it has subtitles.

Maybe cause we get older and have more money, which equates to a really nice home theater? My home theater system rocks. I do go to movies though, I am just not interested in going to the theater to see the new Red Dawn movie. I saw Prometheus, Madagascar 3, Dark Knight Rises, and The Avengers in theaters over the summer. Will be going to see the new James Bond movie too in a theater. Love James Bond movies

I have a f'cking awesome home theater, but no way I am staying home waiting for a f'cking movie to come out on DVD when I can go out and have a good time.
I guess I will just never get old

I will guarantee you that mine is more teH awesome!
Truth is....I haven't been to a theater in probably 20yrs. The reason? A good movie will always be a good movie (timeless, so to speak), and I don't feel like I have to see something "first".... I'll get around to it when I get around to it. Beside, the costs of going to theaters is outrageous (everything added up), I don't like crowds and avoid them whenever possible....and there's nothing like being able to hit pause...and take a leak 10ft away...or grab something to eat . Seriously, Ijust counted that I now have 21 3D Blu-Ray movies, and I am loving watching them each....when I am inclined to do so. There's a lot of times I "plan" on watching one, but stuff happens. If I had tickets? Stuck. Screw that noise............I love my autonomy!

That Hansel and Gretel movie looks awful! :P

The villains were changed by the studio because they want to make money off of the market in China.
"According to the LA Times, the filmmakers have decided to change the villains yet again. Instead of the Chinese,* North Korean soldiers will now invade the U.S. in the Red Dawn remake. The switch was made in an effort to give the film greater box office appeal in China – which has become one of the most profitable markets for American movies."

Old person here. Let's see....
I want a good seat so I have to show up early, which means 10+ minutes of ads and 20 minutes of trailers.
High ticket prices
Outrageous snack prices
No pause button if I need a bathroom break.
A theater full of candy bag crunchers, talkers, cell phone users, and all around inconsiderate a-holes.
I really miss that!
But I will put up with it next month to see the Hobbit.

This ^^^^ you pay less for popcorn and soda too

I go through phases where I go to the movies frequently, but then I may go a year or two without going at all. Not a fan of watching major movies at home because I always get distracted by other stuff that needs to be done around the house. If I'm under the weather I do like staying home and watching TCM all day long.
Most recently I saw The Master, The Sessions and Skyfall. The Master was just weird and not enjoyable to me, but the other two were very good, entertaining, and fun. If you want to see a lot of Helen Hunt in full frontal nuditity (more than once), watch The Sessions. She looks pretty damn good at age 49.
I live less than a mile from two theaters that show independent "art" films, so I go to a lot of those if I got nothing else to do on Sunday afternoons. My partner doesn't like the independents, so I usually enjoy them by myself.
