I would say Sergio had it spot on, it's interesting to see the evolution of 40 years. (of course this image won't be to perfect scale)
It's quite clear that over time bodybuilder's have not improved chest and biceps to anywhere near the degree they have improved thighs, delts, back etc. They simply have made all the other bodyparts alot bigger which has lost them proportions. People could argue "They just improved the weaker points" Well actually, the reason those parts were smaller is because it looks good, that's exactly what proportions are.. to not look abnormal. If the judging had been better over the last 20 years we may be getting more Shawn Ray/Flex Wheeler/Shawn Rhoden type physique's and less Branch Warren's ruining perfect body's to become an ugly stump.
So what do you guys think is perfect proportions?

I don't know if there are PERFECT proportions, but these two hall of famers are great examples of how a well-proportioned bodybuilder looks like:

Kevin Levrone was always pretty well-proportioned whether he was 230 or close to 250lbs. Yeah, towards the end of his career his legs lagged behind his upper body, but for the most part, for most of his career, he was always regarded as a guy who got big but had good proportions and shape.

Paul Dillett had very, VERY good proportions, but at some point in a contest you have to actually POSE and then at another point you have to turn around, and well...that did him in.

Perfectly symmetrical, with good flow.....this is very opinionated and most will choose the 60/70s guys. The alien s landed around the early 90s. Who would turn msot heads with epic proportions and have all shake their heads in disbelief....u know who im going to say, hes my favourite because he was the freakiest looking of them all. Dillett back was epic, maybe not for winning the greatest contests for bb but his back relaxed was epic, A tall guy(6ft1 not really tall) is not going to compete well with the shorter guys like a yates and Coleman who were both under 5ft 11.

My picks
Small waist, protruding shoulders, big chest... basically the 70s V-taper. Legs should be muscular but I must admit I prefer the look where the upper body slightly overpowers them.My recommended reading

Proportions are muscular not structural. You can disagree but you are disagreeing with a fact. Obviously bone structure may affect how the muscle looks and is developed but the focus goes to the muscle itself.
That might be a double-edge sword if we consider Dorian who had is fair share of proportion issues.
Paul dillet had bad proportions from the back and i don't care how alien he looks when relaxed (not the mandatory quarter turns, but just simply relaxed). From the front he had good proportions indeed. From the side every pic that comes to mind he was posing bad so i won't say anything there.
In that shot he has indeed good proportions imo, and im not talking bones.
Who would turn more heads and who was freakier has nothing to do with proportions; symmetry is a different game; dillet back was not epic in the pro bodybuilding world and anything else is irrelevant to the discussion (every smaller underdeveloped body part of a pro is still freaky to pretty much everyone outside of pros and top amateurs). Thats like saying dorian wasn't going to compete well with shawn.
Sergio had a back :/
True.

By wide waist i don't mean bloated waist. I mean untwisted front on posing and in comparison to his fellow competitors. Nobody talks about arnold triceps, everybody talks about arnolds biceps...that should be a hint. "If you don't have it, don't show it" should be another hint on his mindset and on the fact that he barely showed his tris.
