Actually, you could pick 1 or two moves and build your abs just fine given sufficient volume and progression.
Knee raises (or leg raises) and weighted crunches should be enough. You can add weight to knee raises.
Nothing really magical about abs. Diet is king there. I don't really care for side bends, personally.

Think it may have been mentioned, but you can do as many ab exercises as you like, if your body fats too high, they probably won't show.

Some people need no direct work. Others need lots of direct work.
It all comes down to muscle mass and body fat levels. There is a good chance you could get a solid six pack with just those exercises, provided your diet is good. There is a chance you could get a six pack with just the diet. Or you might need a lot more than those exercises.-

Theres many ways to skin a cat. And from what I've seen peoples abs are often a product of diet and genetics with exercise being the third variable. That being said, I've found that the best exercises to develop a six pack are exercises that resist movement rather than exercises that initiate movement. The main function of our abs/core is not to crunch forward....but rather to resist movement to stabilize our bodies. Thats why exercises like all variations of planks etc in my opinion are more effective because its working the muscle in the way it was intended to be utilized by us.
