    Smile Fat Gripz

Hey everyone I was wondering if any of you have used Fat Gripz before? If so do you like them? Would you recommend them? I was curious as to how you would use them. Are they used on your power days or hypertrophy days when lifting? Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!

    I don't own Fat Gripz.

Having said that, thick handles are great for working grip / forearm strength on any pulling exercise. For those who have large hands, it can also provide a more comfortable hold. I have always preferred a wider bar on pushing moves. It simply feels better to have the weight distributed over a larger area of my hand then to have it resting on a more focused point. I always do dips on pipe-insulated handles. I guess I'm a wuss that way, but I prefer to focus on the exercise more than the hand and wrist pain. Some people prefer the opposite, and that is why something like Fat Gripz are nice because they are removable, so you aren't stuck with always having to use a wide bar.

The reason I don't have fat grips is that when I want a thicker handle, I just wrap it up. I have some leg wraps that fit the bill just fine, and allow me to make the bar as wide or thin as I like.
    I'll post pics later.

To address the question about "power days" or "hypertrophy days"... it is harder to pull with larger handles. I feel it is easier to push with them, simply do to comfort. I use them for pulling or curling when I specifically want to wreck my forearms and work my grip. If I want to put more effort in the movement itself, of course it is easier to work with heavier weights when your grip strength isn't so challenged. So technically, you could use them on both, or either...it just might be something you utilize towards the end with lighter weight to really push the effect on your forearms.

Thanks! I think I will try the wraps first to see how they feel before purchasing them.

You could do the same thing with a plain old ACE bandage or something, they are fastened the same way.

Other options for different widths. I still prefer wrapping, since it is a more sturdy grip (less cushion), but these really do work your grip a lot for simple movements like arm curls where you really grab the DB as hard as you can.

I use them on a couple of Pulling exercises (Bent rows and DB curls)

For rows...once my grip tanks out...I grab the bar just inside the grips and finish the set (just a few more reps)

I can feel the difference...and it's helped my grip for dead lifts...

    I'm happy with them. YMMV

+1 for Fat Gripz. They make me regret investing in a Rogue Axle. I should have stuck with just the Fat Gripz on a barbell and put that Axle $ towards the Rackable Fat EZ Bar from EliteFTS.

Thanks for the feedback. I tried the knee wraps and they felt good but think I will be investing in a pair of fat gripz since I really want to improve my grip. Thanks everyone!

Fat Gripz work well, but there are other grips on the market you may want to check out. Just letting you know incase you buy Fat Gripz, but actually prefer others available on the market.

    - Manus Grips
    - Grip4orce
    - IronBull

Towels work just as well, but i suppose the grips are more convenient.

EDIT: Fat Gripz are 2.5" in diameter, which is pretty much perfect. but Iron Bull make them at 2" which some people prefer, especially if they have smaller hands. im not sure about the diameter of the Manus and Grip4orce, youd have to google search to find out.
