Thinking about buying the r-3 from rogue. But I was thinking that its not deep enough to do box squats. To the people that have it, have you ever attempted box squats in it?

I dont see why not, heres some videos of people box squating in racks
first video is in a EliteFTS collegiate rack w/ 36 inches (the r3 has 30 inches): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93p7tReUFco
second video is in a EliteFTS 2x2 rack w/ 30 inches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXMRIc0MkeMIt surprises me how many people refuse to buy equipment from Elitefts because its too expensive but they will buy equipment from their competitors, then continue to go on EFS website to educate themselves for FREE

The standard R3 is 24" deep between the uprights. More than enough room. I saw the big deep racks and hesitated because the R3 looks narrow compared to them. If you need to take 3 steps back to get set on the box like the one guy in the video, not for you. I have a mono lift attachment in my little R3 and can still step back out of it if I wanted with lots of room.

The bar should be travelling straight up and down even in a box squat, so it shouldn't be a problem. The R3 feels a little claustrophobic to someone like me who walks their squats out like 3-4 feet from the uprights, but I'm just not used to squatting in a rack.

Haha, definitely... I wouldn't walk out of a real mono because it still feels like you're in the open, but I probably would walk it out of the rack version, haha...
For reference, I'm not sure a rack exists that would let me do my normal walkout... Just hate being near the uprights I guess, haha...

I think I need some sort of overhead rail system to hang straps from, so the straps will slide along the rails no matter where I walk to in the whole garage, haha...
Imagine this, but on rails so they can slide forward and backward, haha...
