Niche vs. Designer fragrances:
To make a long boring story short, niche versus designer colognes are based on storefronts selling the particular fragrance. Niche colognes are a little more rare/difficult to find. Generally only sold online or at boutiques. Designer fragrances are more popular/easier to find, sold in a lot of popular retailers.

Cologne FAQ
Where to spray
Cologne is best applied to the pulse points of the body. This helps the fragrance develop over time and also helps it project throughout the dry down. Pulse points most often used are the sides of the neck, wrists, and elbow. I personally avoid spraying any cologne on clothes. You risk the chance of staining your clothes. Cologne is also unable to develop or dry down when sprayed on cloth. Cologne is designed to interact with the chemicals on the skin and change throughout the day. Spraying on your clothes will rob you of the true development of the notes.
How much to spray
This is impossible to answer for every fragrance. Some colognes project very well, while others are light and stay close to the skin. You should experiment with each fragrance and find the proper amount. With heavier fragrances start with one, maybe two sprays. With lighter fragrances you can start with two or three. Again applying to the pulse points listed above will yield the best results. Remember its better to start with less sprays then have to much and be knocking people out with your cologne. Also don’t forget about olfactory fatigue and confirm with others that the fragrance is truly gone.
How cologne works
Colognes are produced with three different levels. The first thing you smell when a cologne is sprayed are the top notes. These notes usually last a few minutes to a half hour. These notes are usually the most noticeable to the person wearing the fragrance. After the top notes fade the middle notes appear. This is the meat of the fragrance and is usually around the longest amount of time. After the middle notes fade you will be left with the base notes. Base notes are usually simple notes and at this point the fragrance is not projecting.
Explaining Olfactory Fatigue
So you followed the above advice, you used one spray of Pure Malt but you don’t smell it anymore. Does that mean its not projecting anymore and you should have went with 5 sprays? NO! Once a fragrance is applied you initially will smell it and notice the change. However as time goes by your nose gets used to the fragrance. You no longer pick up the fragrance and to you it’s gone. That is not usually the case, and doesn't mean you need to apply more cologne. Ask those around you on their opinion of your cologne. 9 times out of 10 it’s still there and projecting.

looking good. Will post mine once the 9 bottles i have ordered come :/
WHat do you think of Sycomore? Seems like expensive and hard to find. Just blind bought Pure shot with a BOGO deal. I like the sound of it plus it is summer here 9 months a year. I think we share like 9 or 10 same bottles. I am testing the ***** pour homme 2 that you have right now. Cant get anything out of it. Smells very weak to me, kinda like dior homme reg version. How many sprays of the ***** do you have to use?

I really enjoy Sycomore but it has to be very cold and it is defiantly on the more mature side of fragrances. I enjoy Pure Shot, it gets a lot of flack because it's not like the other flankers. It does have issues in longevity and projection but it still is a fun scent. For GPHII it isn't very loud but I wouldn't say it is weak. I usually go 3-4 sprays when wearing it.
