In today’s publication of the New York Times, there is an article entitled The Two-Minus-One Pregnancy. It tells of the growing number of women who are pregnant with twins and choose to abort only one of the fetuses, and allowing the other to survive. In other words, these women are having a “half abortion.”
According to the article, New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center performed 101 abortions last year; 38 of those pregnancy terminations involved a mother pregnant with twins who decided to only abort one unborn child. And that’s just one medical center in the entire country.
What is it about the idea of a half abortion that somehow seems more difficult to grasp than a “normal” abortion? The immediate thing that comes to mind is that it is an ultimate case of “playing God.” As if a “normal” abortion wasn’t already giving one person the authority to choose another human being’s ability to live, a half abortion gives a person the ability to decide which unborn child deserves to live and which one deserves to die. That’s playing God, times two.
Is there any justification for a half abortion?

Phuck can you imagine finding out you only survived to live life because your twin was aborted? Holy phuck that would seriously ruin you. Seems like worst case scenario you should have both and put one up for adoption, even then that would phuck them up if they ever found out, but better than killing one. You're already pregnant, whether it's 1 baby or 2 the process is pretty much the same.

how is that a dumb defense? it's probably a major reason for abortions, not being able to afford raising a child at the time. my mom is pretty much pro-life, except for the rape/mother's life in danger situations, but even she says she couldn't have imagined the struggles of giving birth to more than one child at once.
what makes this feel weird is that it makes picture yourself in this situation, finding out you had a twin who your mother chose to abort. whereas you can't really imagine yourself having been aborted, since you wouldn't be around to think about it.

Hopefully they will never tell their child. I dont know how awful it would feel to have realized I was the lucky one that didnt get removed and that I also could have had a brother that looked just like me.
Im not against abortion due knowing there are MANY factors involved with deciding if you want to bring a child or children into the world.Carb Mal-absorption, no breads, sugary snacks, rice, pasta...live off of 30-40g a day.
