Ha... deterrents are called deterrents and not defenses because they only serve to deter and not defend. An armed criminal is likely to be far less deterred by a simply alarm system, and dogs, OC spray, and tasers are almost entirely useless against an armed combatant/intruder unless you manage to get the drop on them.
