Hi guys first off I don't come to this part of the board much but here are my stats;
170lb 15-18% bodyfat
20 years old, been training for over a year. Started off at 135lbs and 11.5 inch arms, now I'm around 14.5-15.0''
I have a screwed up knee, but I can squat
225x10 prety easy
175x4 bench..never really bench though, mostly dumbbells.
I am not huge and stonge but I want to get there. I know what to eat but I just don't really know where to start. I'm over in FL and have tried to find info about meets and such but haven't had any luck.

"My Stars and Garters", young man!"
It is never too late!
I am a 51 year old mother of two teens and my son is no older than you. Been taking a Women's Strength Class since last September and just "ran" with the premise. Been naturally strong for the most part (rural lifestyle) but took the class to gain muscle, get more flexible and lose weight. Lost several inches and 45 pounds to boot. Right now, I have 20 more pounds to go to be where I feel comfortable at (175). There are a couple of strong women whom I would like to try to emulate. Who are at my height (5'6") and that weight.
Finally able to parallel squat 235lbs for 10 reps. If a old crone like me can do it......You certainly can go beyond this with time .
About the bench....feel good about yourself. I can only do 4 sets (bb) @ 6- 8 reps of 125 right now. Managed to do 135 a couple of times. Have an old left rotator cuff tear (not from lifting) to watch out for.
So, just take care of that knee and you will travel far

Sh!t man, you're just starting your life when you're 20! The only thing in life you're too old to start at that age is puberty!
A lot of men peak in their 40's or geater but most peak in the mid 30's. By the time you're 35, you could have 15 years of powerlifting behind you. Thats an eternity of training to develop serious power. Train properly and approach your progress with patience and you'll be hitting those high numbers eventually. I'm in my 13th year of lifting and I'm about to smash through the 1800 total. 1900 won't be far off when that happens and then.... 2000! I'm hoping for the 1 ton total in a few years - which would be 15/16 years of training behind me. So, like I said, 20 is a great age to start!

I was just wondering how fizler was getting on...
CLICKY THINGY
Must be tough training with fibromyalgia which according to Wikipedia is pain, interspersed with chronic pain. Ouch.
*edit*
BTW my training partner has pulled 595 in the gym at 198. He's 62 years old.Last edited by Riddicks_bro; 01-22-2008 at 08:19 PM.
