    Alright man. Hopefully the drawer liner will prevent me from slipping next time. And no I don't have any shoulder pain at all. Maybe some of the power from my legs didn't transfer over to the press. I don't think I was constantly driving my heels through the floor throughout the entire lift.

    What about breathing? Tate mentions to try to hold your breath throughout the whole set, or at least the first couple reps. I've never done this on ANY lift, and was always told to inhale on eccentric, exhale (or valsalva for heavy weight) on concentric. Never to hold your breath the entire motion. What do you do?
    I unrack the weight, let it settle, take a breathe and hold it in my stomach, press, then before i go for the 2nd rep i release breathe and take another breathe.

    I see, so you don't think breathing in while bringing the weight down is a good idea?

    The question was if it was a legal bench, not if she's get red or white lights. But yeah gotta keep dat ass on the bench.

    Yes, minus the red lights for not enough booty on the bench the rest is all legal.

    When you need to push your car thats out of gas, do you initiated the push and breathe at the same time? No. You take a deep breathe and then heave. Same with lifting weights.

    Take the breathe and find your tighness even before you commit to the descent.

    I've never thought about it like that. I think the first time I ever lifted weights in high school the coach said never to stop breathing or you'll faint. And he always emphasized to breath otw down, and breathe out otw up. I stopped breathing out otw up in all the lifts because it's impossible due to the weight. But I continued to breathe otw down thinking that was right. I'll try your way from now on. It'll probably take some time getting used to it.

    I'm assuming this applies to all lifts? Squats/Deadlifts/Press/Rows?

    Well it is possible to faint holding your breathe. Just be careful and know your limits.

    And ya most people hold their breathe throughout the big lifts.
    But if youre doing high rep work just as accessory work, feel free to just breathe regularly, dont strain yourself too much.

    OP.. you should pretty much be extremely tight in that position. When I fixed my form.. my lats and even traps / upper center back got a pump, next day back was semi-fatigue <_<;

    Yeah even though I was only half as tight as I should be (or maybe 75% as tight) my back and everything is so sore until now, 2 days afterwards. Even my feet are sore because if being on my toes. Imagine when I finally get my form almost 100% right, it'll probably hurt even more. I'm going to do a Close-grip bench press today w/ my new drawer liner and see how it goes.
