OCC is pretty good, but you had me suckered from the moment you threw in no bakes. The classic no bake chocolate pb cookies are my favorite cookies of all time, and I've been meaning to try the straight PB variant. I'd actually be interested in the recipe if you wouldn't mind PMing it, or linking me if you have it posted somewhere.
Actually, I have long been hoping that someone like BnJ would try to incorporate chocolate peanut butter oatmeal no-bakes into an ice cream somehow. It seems like such a solid fit given that they are actually meant to be refrigerated at some point, you know?"Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself, but talent instantly recognizes genius."

New Orleans Ice Cream Company - Baked Alaska
"Delight in a decadent dessert of Vanilla Bean ice cream with crunchy meringue pieces, fresh strawberries, moist cake pieces & a soft meringue swirl"
That's exactly what that is.
I'm going to go ahead and say this is my first NOLA Ice Cream I've reviewed because my first pint was completely covered in Ice crystals, and it kind of made it hard to enjoy. However this one, I went ahead and rimmed the top layer off with a spoon into the garbage, and then began my pint =)
It seems like a pattern with NOLA so far that every pint is around 250 calories a serving, 4 servings in a pint so, 1,000 calories a pint. Not bad. Consider that Ben and Jerry's has about 100-300 more calories for every pint.
So I'm greeted with a very nice strawberry, followed by the meringue swirl, and even a few cake pieces all in the same shot. Didn't know what to expect taste-wise, so I just dug in without much thought.
I picked up some of the swirl, and cake... and... wow. This is decadent! After a few more bites of this Ice Cream, I can say that I've enjoyed the cake pieces, and the swirl the most. I think the strawberry was just put in there so they couldn't call it "Baked Alaska" in Ice cream form, they wanted a little more to show for it... and i gotta admit though... I like it... the strawberry gives it a frozen desert taste, and it compliments the taste of the cake pieces, and the almost caramel taste of the swirl. Add that with the vanilla, and you've got a nice set of flavors.
However I seem to have noticed a pattern on how NOLA's Ice Creams taste/compare to Ben & Jerry's... but just to be sure... I glance back over at the ingredients list... hmmm... well, that's interesting...
Ok so here's the rundown. Great flavor. Seriously, it was really really good. However I seem to have been right so far about my Red Velvet Cake review as well on the count it's more of a Holiday enjoyed Ice Cream. I'll explain.
So far all of NOLA's flavors (of the two I've tried) have been very hint-to-sweet in their Ice Creams. Ben and Jerry's are the opposite in those terms, they try to get as sweet as they can. It seems to me Ben & Jerry pride themselves on being as sweet, and sugary tasting as they possibly can while throwing in a bunch of mix-ins, and just combining flavors for fun. Whereas NOLA seem to pride themselves on getting the best combinations of mix-ins, and best types of ice creams for them to really showcase flavor. This pint, being the perfect example.
: A Caramel tasting meringue swirl, moist meringue cake pieces, crunchy meringue pieces and frozen strawberries in a dense vanilla bean ice cream base. :
If you were to look up "Baked Alaska" you'd see that a Baked Alaska is an actual dessert, much like Red Velvet Cake. It seems they try to go out of the way to make the ice cream taste identical, or better then the dessert, whereas Ben & Jerry just try to match the flavor with a sweeter taste, and more mix-ins, lol.
Baked Alaska - Also known as: omelette á la norvégienne, Norwegian omelette, omelette surprise, glace au four. Ice cream encased in some sort of hot casing (pastry crust or meringue). Then the recipe can be changed to as, like, the one above they've used.
Conclusion, I loved it. I'm normally a sugar kinda guy but, the pace and flavor NOLA brings to the table seem unmatched. Like I said, they seem to pride themselves on a decadent flavor, rather then sweet. However, it's in good light and it actually forces you to cherish the Ice Cream. You really have to savior every flavor you taste in a bite, if you don't, your missing out. NOLa's Ice Creams are not meant to be ate like a Ben & Jerry's, you almost have to slow down, or you could miss the whole thing entirely.
I still have a few more flavors of NOLA to try... Mint Chocolate Cookie, Mississippi Debris, and another Red Velvet Cake being sent for free by Brad from Ice Cream Source.

Poverty ice cream brahs
Edys is on sale for 2.50 per large container this week. already scooped the light peppermint which I love...any other flavors I should pick up? I know they have egg nog and pumpkin in light and regular, as well as most of the standard flavors... side note, has anyone had both the light and full fat version of their peppermint? The light is damn good, so I may just stick with it, but im tempted to try the full fat too because I bet its even better.xTUNAx CREW

Gifford's special batch butterscotch vanilla.
Love the vanilla base. This is my first try of Gifford's but I am willing to give their other flavors a shot based on this very positive experience.www.GetDS.com

Tie between the Pumpkin and the Girl Scout Samoas flavor for me. Both are amazing for the macros.
Have not had the light PB flavor, but I am very tempted to try. Generally speaking low fat peanut butter offerings seem doomed to be garbage (for obvious reasons), but we will see."Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself, but talent instantly recognizes genius."

A little jealous. Never got to try this one. Might have to throw this in the cart the next time I order from ICS.
Disappointing to hear. Especially seeing how impressive their swirl is in Pumpkin Pie.
This.

Alas, although I am able to find some limited TH offerings in the area, Pumpkin Pie has never been one of them. I am consoled by the fact that there's a local dairy that makes a reasonably macro-friendly pumpkin pie ice cream, and it just happens to be the best one I've had. It eases the pain.
Edy's Samoas with an added crumble of Samoa cookies though...yeeessss."Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself, but talent instantly recognizes genius."

Quite sure it was EricStevens in this thread that enjoys Dublin mudslide. I did not enjoy it as much, but to each his own.
I'm learning more and more that the abundance, or rather lack of, a swirl can make or break the pint. When I first tried Cinnamon Buns I gave it my #4 spot, when I rescooped the swirl was abundant and fantastic threatening for the #1 spot. The exact opposite happened last night with TCC. Anyone one else think this may be one of the underlying factors in the so called " bad pints"?
