BnJ Smores
The good: the fudge chunks weren't rock hard ala Phish Food and Cherry Garcia; graham cracker swirl was nice during the rare times it wasn't masked by the base.
The bad: the chocolate base overpowered pretty much everything; marshmallow swirl pretty much nonexistant; would def not buy again

^ Smores has never impressed me. One of the first pints I ever picked up, and save for CNC, I can't think of a flavor that has ever threatened to put me to sleep while eating it like Smores has.
EDIT: I lied. Rocky Road-ish. Phuck that flavor.
Also:
Showed up in my Shaws I just moved next to. Evictions have their upsides I suppose. New locale means having access to different stores. They also had a low-cal brand I never heard of. One of their offerings was PB&J. I'm not sure how good a peanut butter based flavor can be at 160 kcal/serving, but I'm tempted to try it.

Bought Karamel Sutra tonight.
Mixed feelings. I took out the giant glob of caramel in like 2 bites, and was loving the pint. Then I realized that was it and I was out of luck for the rest of it. Good, but not great.
(Not my pic, but this is what mine looked like, the center was where the caramel was)

I am stoked I finally got some NO ice cream co to be honest. I'll inevitably place a large ICS order for their entire line one of these days.
Once again, breyer's ultimately disappoints...
Which one? I am like a 20 minute ride from one right now and tempted to try and squeeze in the time to go.
Jeni's chocolate shouldn't really be spoken in the same sentence as any other brand or product.
Speaking of Jeni's, I just went to a scoop shop tonight and tried a ton of stuff, especially the current LE flavors. Guava Cloverton is awesome, as is the banana cajeta. The absinthe and meringue is truly intriguing and moreish, but I only sampled it, didn't get a full scoop. But one of the best shockers of the trip was a suggestion from someone else in here (i forget who)...
Fap-worthy.

From yesterday...
The base of this is quite weak, but I assume that is so it doesn't completely over power the mix ins. Even so, it still does to some extent, but still fairly enjoyable. It is no knockout though.

Tip: Don't eat ice cream for the macros. That defeats the whole point.
Stick with other foods if you want your bang for your buck w/ macros and you aren't willing to allocate the calories for good ice cream.
Ben & Jerry's: Boston Cream Pie
Well first off, I'm very happy to say that the base did not taste like vanilla. The base tastes much more "cakey" and has a somewhat chalky texture to it; don't be alarmed as that chalkiness is a good type that adds a unique textural element and complements the cake flavor inspiration (The chalkiness is reminiscent of that in pastry dough).
The next thing I noticed was that the fudge flakes were nice and subtle. I'm pleased that they weren't jam packed into the pint because they do not interfere with the integrity of the Boston Cream Pie flavor. After all, Boston Cream Pie cakes don't even have that much chocolate, nor should they (they have just enough to coat the top of the cake). They are not quite pure milk chocolate; they're more on the darker side, which I enjoy because they prevent the ice cream as a whole from being overly sweet. The fudge flakes are spread evenly and are implemented in an adequate quantity.
Now onto my favorite parts: the pastry cream and the yellow cake pieces. First, the pastry cream is great; it resembles the creamy substance that one would find in the center of a Dunkin Donut's Boston Cream donut or in a bakery's Cannoli. This might sound strange, but in my opinion, BCP resembles Cannolis more than the actual "Cannoli" Ben & Jerry's Flavor (the pastry cream coupled with the fudge flakes reminds me of the combination filled in Cannoli shells). Rather than a "milky" pastry cream, this is a more caramel-like pastry cream. Next, even better than the cream were the yellow cake pieces. These were delightfully chewy, doughy, and chalky; they resemble under-baked cake batter that is left part fully baked and part still left doughy.
This is my 2nd time having it (the 1st being a long time ago). Overall, I give Boston Cream Pie an 8-8.5/10. This would have received a higher rating if the flavors were deeper and if there were more pastry cream swirls.Last edited by anuragp122195; 02-28-2013 at 08:57 PM.

I'll take a picture tomorrow at Shaws. Again, this is a low-cal option.
Apparently Wegman's carries a premium one:
Never seen it reviewed in here. I know B&J's had one too that is now in the graveyard. I think the issue is that people underestimate the power of the bread/glass of milk in the experience. It's not all about the spread-on components. Simply combining peanut butter ice cream with a jelly swirl really doesn't do too much for a seasoned scooper. Maybe some day B&J's will find a way to take it to the next level.

Tried the Talenti Sea Salt Caramel
Very rich taste. Right from the first bite you will definitely notice that you are delving into a luxury ice cream. It tastes very rich, but I thought the flavors worked very well together. Can taste the amazing sweetness of the caramel, but can also taste the slight saltiness of it. Also, there are some chocolate pieces mixed into it. Never knew there would be since I thought I was only getting what's listed on the cover.
The richness is a bit overempowering though. I couldn't eat the pint in one sitting like I usually do with other ice creams due to the richness of the caramel and salt.Indian Genetics (aka 18inch pipes, 7nch cack, 6'2) Crew

I reviewed this around 1 month ago and gave it a 9/10 or so I think. Fantastic. See, my tastes aren't so absurd! I honestly am considering buying another one at whole foods for $8.
Not sure I completely agree with the bold, but will state that Boston Cream Pie is what Cannoli should have been more like. Boston Cream Pie is a delicious flavor. Very unique. It's the sort of thing that separates Ben and Jerry from the rest of the premium ice cream brands. But let's be honest, it's probably a matter of time before it's discontinued. Or maybe they'll ruin it and make it a Greek Froyo or something. My path to contest prep:
