Bodyfat guestimate before dexa scan
I have been dieting for over 2 years and I have lost 115 pounds - wanting to get a low BF percentage before I start my first ever - lean bulk. Going to have a Dexa scan next week as part of a research project (donating bone marrow). What do you guestimate my bf % to be?

I would estimate 12%. Looking good, man Enjoy your bulk.

yeah, i agree at about 12-13% bf
ouch @ bone marrow, that is gonna hurt like a biatch

My guess is lower... 9-10%. Keep us updated bro curious for results.

is the kwisatz haderach
I would guess more in the 9-10% range too. Your skin has held up fantastically for losing a ton of weight.
-
Yes light bone structure
10%
Since the DEXA scan is gonna give precise numbers, I'll say... 10.4% average body fat.
On the road to 8% body fat. Getting closer...

Thank you! I did think I would have to have a tummy tuck - but the loose skin I had on my lower abs has totally dissapeared now and the little loose skin I have under my pecs will most likely tighthen up when I am able to get some more mass on those. I really look forward to be able to make some muscle gains - but I want to loose the last fat and look lean. I had hoped to be around 12 percent bodyfat by now - surprised to see some of you think I am lower.
It is not that painful to have bone marrow extracted - a local anastethic is given :-)
I will post the result of the scan wednesday.

I'd guess right around 10% or so - very nice work. Looking pretty solid.
I got DEXA'd at 11.5% a couple months back.

I'm going to shoot low here at 9.8%. But more importantly:
1) Fantastic job loosing that much weight.
and even more importantly
2) You did something right -- for that high of weight loss you don't have the marks to show for it, and your physique is good. Solid job, repping.

Yeah I'm assuming 9-10% range.
I remember doing mine 2 months ago and it was at 12.6%, and the definition was nowhere close to yours!
Congrats on achieving such a physique.

Thank you guys - I am very surprised that your estimates are that low! I must really be loosing fat these weeks - I did notice more and more veins and the last fat on my lover belly go. Besides using a homemade herbal - sugar/salt body scrub - I have used a lot anti-aging (face creams) for my body skin - and maybe it has made a difference? A few months back I still had a little loose sagging skin below my navel - but it tightened up!!
I am very happy and grateful that my persistence and patience have payed off - loosing weight has been slow - About 1 pound every week - and there has been some plateaus - after loosing 10-15 pounds - I seemed to take diet breaks (2-3-4 weeks) (before I even knew that was what I doing) - I gained a few pounds - and then set a goal of loosing another 15 pounds ...
As a former fattie - I was morbidly obese - BMI 43 - I am scared of regaining weight. Even thinking of eating at surplus - of about 150-200 KCAL scares me - and I do not know if that is enough to make some muscle gains? I only notice my flaws it seems - I hate my small veak shoulders - and I have a problem with tendinitis in my left shoulder -(even notice a little asymmetry - less developed left shoulder/pecs. My arms are not growing at all and I have a long neck - PINhead - and I am really trying to train my neck and traps ... I just do not notice much difference yet.
My goal is to loose 6-9 more pounds.

The body doesn't struggle to lose weight...the mind does. It's easy in theory but theory doesn't take into account the mirror and the scale. Keep measurements, keep your sanity.

Dexa is going to give u a waaaaaaay higher BF% than you think since it measures vistrol (sp?) fat as well. It is not as perfect as people make it out to be.

Great job reaching 11% body fat, and thanks for sharing your results. Based on your results can we assume bone size/density can effect body weight more than a pound or two??

Very interesting. Is it typical to get a DEXA scan when donating bone marrow? I was thinking of doing both but if the DEXA scan was free/reduced cost that would be cool. Also lol at Android Fat.

I would say no more than a pound or two. When I had mine done it was like 9.1lbs and his is like 7.85lbs. I'm only like 2 inches taller. The guy who gave me my dexa was a former offensive lineman for the Colts and he said his was barely 10lbs and he was like 6'7"
