Carb up's aren't necessary although some on here have great results with them. As for protein it's really the macros that count. Today I had 237grams of protein but it was only 37% of my diet, 2% from carbs, and the rest fat. So I'm not a high protein diet.
It you feel fine on 20 grams carb then that's fine. Hell I was at about 12 grams today (coming from eggs and cheese) and did one of the most intense leg sessions I've ever done. Fasted too I might add except for a scoop of whey before hitting the gym to keep from going catabolic

But who wants to do keto for 2 months without a sandwich? 20g of carb for 60 days straight pretty much sucks. I didnt follow the diet 100% but I still lost 10lb in 4 weeks. Thats including drinking saturday night with my burgers and once or twice drinking all day sunday. For me, my job and the gym keep me in line better than most so Im at a bit of an advantage.
My first 2 weeks I was under 10g of carb. So dont worry about hitting 20.
As for lack of energy, I read all sorts of people being up and down. Besides the induction phase, 2nd week, I feel no large change in amount of energy, besides feeling a bit more alive at the end of a work day doing keto. Otherwise I could flip on and off keto and never have a crash or grogginess. Different strokes, different folks I suppose.
