You think it's as easy as "sue on grounds of infidelity" - the dude is not only paying for lawyers but he's also paying during the settlements. And, if he doesn't have HARD evidence of her cheating, his wife's lawyers will eat that chit up and spit him out. It's also not as easy as just getting text messages as proof. Unfortunately, alot of "cheating" evidence can't be used in court because the evidence was stolen in the first place. You found texts on your wifes phone that she's going to meet another man for sex? You can't use that as evidence, bub, unless the wife stupidly gives it away before a lawyer advises her against it.

No, you said beating her was the right thing to do, but unfortunately it happened in front of the kids.

I say, abuse was not an appropriate, normal response. The dude obviously has problems. He should have filed for divorce and then, when the kids were older, explained why he asked for a divorce. He could explain to the kids why cheating is wrong. He could explain how important marriage is, and how it's a commitment that should not be taken lightly.

Instead, he's always going to be a scumbag. And he may even end up in jail.
