    weight gain shakes

    Hey all

    So I'm putting on about one and a quarter pounds muscle a week and not gaining fat. I can't eat more due to.both budget and schedules. Would weight gainer help add the maybe 500 or more calories like food or is there other crap in it that promotes fat gain and metabolism slowing? I know nothing about it as I always wanted to lose not gain. Is this a sensible alternative to increase muscle gain? Also I still have newbie gains going on so I don't know if I'm getting the cals I'll need after that ends.

    Anyway, eat ice cream, peanut butter or something that you like if you want/need to up your calories. Why overpay for tasteless calories?

    How is it water retention when I took averages of my weights daily? Some were higher from water no doubt. But the average trend is what I posted. Also why is this hard to believe when SS and BLS both claim 1-2 pounds muscle gain a week for the first few months?

    Optimistically assuming a 50/50 gain of muscle and fat, even 2.5 pounds of pure adipose tissue distributed across your entire body may not make you noticeably "fatter". It's even less likely if all you're looking at is your waist measurement.

    For a completely untrained individual, that's not an entirely unreasonable claim as stated. But adding "without any fat gain", it becomes unbelievable. Given Mark Rippetoe's claims in the past about "muscle" gain (the example given was clearly mostly fat), I'd assume by default that he's exaggerating either intentionally or accidentally.
