Excellent!! People like to talk about shades of gray, in some cases such as what Uncle Ted is talking about there is NO gray, its black and white.

Are there no shades of grey? Is there no difference between defending one's self and vigilantism?
By this standard, Hurricane Carter would be dead, Guy Paul Morin would be dead, the Guildford Four would be dead.
Hey, if somebody is banging down your door with a gun in hand, I get that, but for every citizen to assume the role of police and jury, is a bit extreme. Recipe for disaster.

Nobody's talking about assuming the role of police here. At least, I didn't hear that in any of the above. What I heard was; we've become such a wimpy country, that felons exploit all of the liberal laws to protect themselves when committing (intentionally or not) heinous crimes. This is a fact, no matter which way you slice it. When the playing field is even, violent crime lessens. When Kennesaw, GA., enacted a law over 20yrs ago, requiring everyone to own a firearm.....crime rates plummeted! This is a fact.
When we try to defer to diplomacy, whether national or local, the guys who don't play by the rules always win. IOW, does anyone really think that by increasing gun control that they will diminish crime? LOL.........you're merely making it easier for those who already have it in them to commit it without as much fear.
Me? I don't own a firearm. Don't like them and don't feel the need for one. However, I will always defend any U.S. citizens right to bear one!
Criminals have/will always have access to guns, drugs, etc., so why disarm citizenry? Because they might shoot one of them...or become one of them? Only one answer to that question makes sense. Think about it.

There is a HUGE difference between self defense and vigilantism, in fact there is virtually nothing in common. He's talking about a person facing imminent death having the opportunity to defend themselves. At no time did he speak of after the fact killing.
You're putting words in his mouth Lisa.

I didn't put any words into the aging guitarist's mouth. I asked a question. I am glad of the answer you provided - anything to the contrary would be most disappointing.
