It all depends. By myself i could easily eat 2-3 deer a yr. Typically i only get 1-2 though. Ate alot in college and sorta got sick of straight deer meat all the time. Now we make alot of different stuff though.Originally Posted by Yero91

wouldnt want to die to a bowshot, i would prefer to headshot any animal i kill with a .243 varmint round and blow their head off entierly basically. painless death and all the meat is fine.

I've always thought the gamey flavor is either a bitterness, or a muskiness to the meat. You can also smell the muskiness before you taste it if it's really gamey. Gj on the butchering job, did you process it all yourself? I butchered my elk the last couple years, although fuk grinding the meat. Until I get a heavy duty meat grinder I just take the cuts I want ground up to the butcher. Such a nightmare grinding for 10 seconds and then cleaning/unjamming the grinder for 10 minutes with my poverty grinder.

Sorry I'm a little late, but here's the pictures I promised of my bow kill from Missouri on 11/1. Perfect shot at 35 yds. Largest deer I've ever shot. This buck is a monster compared to the ones I usually hunt in LA.
