    Shin Splints? Running.

I wear orthotics because of my flat-ish feet, and im not sure if this has anything to do with he horrible shin splints I get. Its stopped me from doing any type of running really... And in the past prevented me from participating in school running events ect.

I use to get the splints all the time doing too much roadwork..Rest, strengthening your tibialis anterior with plenty of stretching of your calf muscles and that's about all you can do. Ice you shins, and try to find another source of cardio to replace running a couple of days so you can rest them..I have tried the soles for shoes and even the socks that cover the shins but they are hard to weed out, it just comes down to rest bub

I think the orthopedic would cause pain in the your arches before they caused shin splints

Comes down to genetics, lower leg strength and flexibility, running shoes, and running surface.

Warm-up really good before you start. Make sure you got a decent pair of shoes. Run on grass or a track if possible. Ice when you're done. When you get a chance in the off-season, when the pain goes away, do some heel walks.

If you got someone that knows how to do it, and you got a towel to bite down on, you could have a trainer push the swelling out towards your heart.

Also, I found out wearing compression sleeves or wraps to really help me when I was just walking around the house. Gives your legs that little extra amount of rest.
