    Peak Week Massage?

So my local spa had a special right now for an hour long massage for 37.50. It's a phenomenal deal and got me thinking...

Would a massage 2 or 3 days before a show be beneficial or detrimental to posing on stage?

On one hand I could see it loosening the muscles, increasing blood flow and what not. On the other, I fear post massage related soreness affecting performance.

Anyone have experience with massage before a show and what was your take on its efficacy?

I actually do weekly massages all prep and then cut them about 2-3 weeks out...I just know that massages, especially deep tissue, can cause inflammation, water retention, etc.

I guess I was under the impression that the massage would increase blood flow to the muscles and actually DECREASE inflammation by shuttling much needed nutrients to the muscle fiber. Of course, I was going on what I thought was logical and I have no scientific basis for this thought. Glad I consulted before I made the reservation

I'm referring to a day or two after...you mentioned getting one a couple days out. It helps as you are getting the massage right then and there, sure. Over the next couple of days is what I am referring to.
