i absolutely hate when people post "im 294 cm and 612kgs" like those numbers mean anything outside of europe, considering 99% of the forum is from the USA.
Also STONE. how big are the stones?

Most of the rest of the world uses the metric system actually...it's not like it's hard to just go to google and type 'what is 612kg in pounds'. Now the stone thing, that should be phased out already...but I believe so should the US system of measurement.

I see do you practice regular boxing? For some reason I thought you kickboxed lol. I'll check out the Everlast brand and see if they have anything, or else adidas. I also have a leather jump rope from Everlast which I really like. Haha yup it's really gross, and I'll do that too, the dryer sheet thing, good idea.

Everlast is a good brand...they've made boxing stuff since forever. Wouldn't be surprised if they have kickboxing gear

Though I partially agree on the stone front. I have no problem remembering what a stone is in lbs, it just seems like a not-very-useful increment for weighing humans. Crates full of textiles, and fish, maybe.

Haha, nah brah it stinks up the entire room, it's god awful. I really need face protection too. Just in case the person I'm sparring decides to go overboard, it won't be on my face. :P

I'm gonna either start kickboxing, some martial art (maybe MMA or whatever), maybe krav maga, or some other type of self-defense. What do you guys suggest? I want to be able to kick anybody's ass (or at least be capable of protecting myself), Lois Lane style from smallville, or that chick in the Arrow. Yeah I might have been watching too much tv lately lol.

If you're really interested in the self defense aspect, Krav Maga would probably be best since they teach you how to disarm someone with a weapon. You can know MMA all you want to and still get beat down with a bat or stabbed. If it's partial self defense / fitness, then any would be useful.

Started EC again today. Also wifey made me up a bunch of chicken thigh meat and long grain brown rice for easy grab and go. Love that woman. Sriracha only 5cal a serving ftw.

Krav Maga is definitely cool for self defense and coupled w/ kick boxing you'll definitely be better at defending yourself than you are now

Well, I suppose it's no more goofy than measuring height in feet and inches, vs. just inches. I think the basic issue is that it really doesn't carry any immediate context to anyone outside of the (very few) people who have been using it most of their life. I know what 5' 11" looks like, I have to do math to get into my head what 16 stone 4 pounds is.

This is true I suppose, but like you say it's what you grow up using, I have a very good concept stone. I've got used to using lbs through football but if somebody says, "I'm 86kg" (I think most of Europe uses kg for BW), I have absolutely no concept of that even though I know the conversion.

I wasn't insinuating that you should let someone hit you in the face unprotected, I was saying you should stick out the smelly gear for a lesson or two. I just got the impression that you haven't really sparred yet, and know if this sort of thing is really something you would like to do. I know way to many people investing $ in gear for something they do once.

No more $30/mo tanning membership plus she can take a guest. She's not trying to get huge or anything, so works for her. Most gyms up there are $50/month. I'll prolly join World's gym when I move up there
