hi guys/gals, great site and stacks of great info. love the transformations that get posted and find these a great motivator. im 5ft10 and 190 pounds. being working out for 1 yr now and love it to bits but get frustrated with my lack of knowledge and mistakes i make in the gym and with my diet.im still learning and do find it hard getting good info from those in the know. i live in a small rural town in new zealand and our gym is pretty basic but does the job,it dosent have body builders as such but has alot of overweight farmers wifes which sit around all day talking ****e and a few unemployed bums that have nothing better to do than come to the gym and also talk ****e with the farmers wifes, this gets me going to work out harder .i will try and get some pics up soon and hopefully some of you long timers can steer me in the right direction with regards to my training and diet.
i will give you a quick run down of my day and diet and lets see if you guys can offer me some good pointers.
i had a basic programme as the people that run our gym arent really that well trained so just offer what they offer everyone and its a weight loss programme so i just do what i feel and it try and do 2 body parts a day for 1.5hrs.i am learning each day about training so i try and work it out myself which isnt really a good approach but its all i have.
the problem i have is that im not sure how i am progressing so can only go by how i am looking in the mirror, yea sad i know,,, i want to learn how to measure my own measurements ,also i need help with my diet and diet is so hard as some of you will no. i will post back tomorrow and give you a run down on my daily diet and also my training programme and lets see if we can tweek it up some, thx guys

At 42 working out 1.5 hours everyday is going to be counterproductive unless your hormones and genes are extraordinary.
Re-becoming monster.

I'm 42 and I do 2 hours a day without any problems - and I doubt my genes are particularly special.
Having said that, I do agree with Alkemyst's concern - not based on age, but experience. It's best to build up to that kind of training volume gradually, over several years, giving your body time to adapt.
For someone with a year's experience, I'd recommend working out every other day, and taking a whole body approach, to reduce the risk of injury and overtraining.
