So why do you?
After my gym sessions the past few days ive been thinking, "Fuq, why do I put myself through this!?!" My elbows, knees, fingers, basically my entire body is sore or in pain. Sometimes I even feel like vomiting. Other times I cant even go the the restroom due to shaking so bad.
Most of my family/friends think I'm crazy/addicted for choosing bodybuilding as a hobby. I'm sure others view you brahs/brahettes the same.
Why do we put ourselves through such rigorous training, dieting, and pain? I know its a hobby for most of us, others compete, some may do it for just attracting girls/guys.
Is it to cover up your insecurities? Display dominance? Bishes? Compliments? Why?
Hopefully everyone can be honest as to why they workout.
Cliffs: Why do you lift or choose bodybuilding as a hobby? Be honest.

Because I used to be fat and its not only a hobby but the best thing I have ever done for myself and a lifestyle change that I plan on sticking to for the foreseeable future. I never want to go back to the way I used to live. Also, its just enjoyable and for the first time I my life when I look in the mirror I am actually happy with my appearance.

Girls mire me now more. I am not even jacked or anything but I still get way more eye****s than before.
I was the weakest slowest kid throughout school. I am now one of the strongest fastest out of my current social circle.
I have more self esteem.
It gives me a new social outlet.
It has a high like effect at the end of a hard workout.
I dunno lol.

Every-time my body tells me to stop I know if I keep pushing just a few more the progressive overload is working and my body will be forced to adapt to survive the **** i am obliterating it with. I know it sucks but it's only for a little bit.
My front right delt has been sore but I said **** it and went in today and PR'd on my flat bb bench and incline db bench.

It relieves all of my depression/anger/sadness/etc. After I'm done with a workout, I feel fcking incredible. It helps me eat better and hopefully will allow me to avoid becoming a diabetic (its hereditary).
Plus it gives me something to do and when I look in the mirror I know that every muscle I see is from my own hardwork and no one elses'.

I choose to lift so can I can be out of the stereotype that asian men are scrawny & small.
For the husband who told his wife he loved her before his plane went down in a field. For the wife who stopped in the stairs to call her husband to say she will love him forever. For the mothers & fathers who kissed their kids goodbye that morning for the last time. For the policemen, firemen, & other rescue workers who rushed in to help others & lost their lives. For the soldiers who fought back & made the ultimate sacrifice. Today, tomorrow, years from now, we will remember.

Because my entire life I was fat, slow, and weak. It felt good to no longer be fat. It felt good to be as fast and as strong as the average guy. Then it felt good to be bigger, faster, and stronger than the average guy. I'm not super strong, no vids on youtube of me military pressing 315, but I feel a ****ton better now than I did when I was physically pathetic.
