    Cupcakes as a snack while cutting you say? Controlled Labs PROnom 23 sponsored log!

    First off, I want to throw a huge THANK YOU to powercage for allowing me to be a logger of this product! I am a faithful Controlled Labs user, and spread the good word of their products (especially white flood) to anyone who will allow me to speak to them about it. The protein was really the only CL product i never had in my stack, and always wanted to try Gold Feast, but i have a buddy who's loaded and gives me any flavor proteins he buys, tries, and doesnt like, so i never had to buy any LMAO. THIS on the other hand, will be much much more satisfying then any of the other stuff I've tried, because I wont feel like i'm cheating on CL when i use it 8-)



    I should be getting my package in the mail in a few days hopefully, and will start logging the day it comes in. I am in the home stretch of my 9 month cut (have about 2 1/2-3 months left), and will be using this for post workout on my gym days, and as a single meal replacement on my off days. I will do my best to log workouts on here, along with a few pictures throughout the log. I asked powercage to surprise me with a flavor, as i couldnt choose between Chocolate and Vanilla.....cuz honestly...what former fat guy could? LMAO

    ANYWAY, I'll start loggin as soon as it arrives. I am so damn excited about this!

    Little background on myself


    As a 24 year old father, I was in the worst shape of my life. I was working construction so always eating off trucks and whatever fast food was around. I swelled up to 283 pounds, and back on Dec 5th, 2011, I decided to change my life. I started what is now my 9 month cut. I had dropped 47 pounds from Dec 5th - May 1st, and another 10 From May 1st - Mid June, and decided to just maintain through the summer. I gained some weight back, and went from 226 up to about 236, and kept pushing off getting back into my cut. I took things into my own hands August 31st when i re-started my cut. As of thismorning, I am down to 218.8, which is my lowest weight since i was in the 8th grade back in 2001! Still going strong, and this log will ensure i bust my ass and continue to pursue my goal weight of 185 pounds (6'2)




    So here's to healthier living, a leaner more bad ass version of myself, and the guys over at Controlled Labs *CHEERS*

    DAY 1 - THE BEGINNING


    OHHHH HAPPY DAY!!!

    Just got home from my workout, and had this waiting on my door step






    I opened it up, not knowing what flavor it was since i asked Cage to surprise me. I opened the package up and had a moment when i saw it was chocolate and literally raged with happyness



    First impression of poppin the seal, was "mmmmmmmm smells like hot cocoa mix...but better". As i always do with a new protein powder, i took a pinch of it and tasted it raw, and was in freaking love. What I did notice about this, is that its got a very nice, easy to pour, no clump texture like most other protein powders i've used before.




    Well since I had eaten already tonight, so i figured what the heck, let me try out this bad boy tonight and see what all the rave is about. I decided to mix 1 scoop with 10 ounces of ice cold water, figuring if i started with the upper end of the spectrum, and it watered the flavor down too much, i could always down it quick and lessen it tomorrow. I dont like very thick or sweet textures with my protein shakes usually, which is why i started with 10 oz.

    Anywho, poured it into an empty gatorade bottle (shaker is in the wash) with the water, and gave it literally 7 good hard shakes, and it was 100% mixed. ZERO clumping, no foamy top (muscle milk is terrible with the foam at the top), and ready to drink. To be 100% honest, the taste was pretty good, but it wasn't what i was expecting, almost like a watered down yoohoo when i was expecting more, but that's what i get for using 10 ounces of water. This is going to be a trial and error the first few days for me. I know the stuff is good from both the smell and the taste of the raw powder, so tomorrow i'm gonna try with 7 ounces of water.



    Throughout this log, I will be mixing up what i do with the powder to get my serving in every days. I'll be mixing with Water, Skim Milk, Unsweetened Almond Milk, Unsweetened Coconut Almond Milk, using different amounts of each, while keeping 1 scoop of the protein my constant. I will also be doing other stuff with it on my off days from the gym, such as making protein pancakes, protein brownies, ice pops, pudding, ect ect ect. I'll do my best to give recipes for the things that turn out the best along with post pictures of each.

    Right now, as stated i'm in the middle of a ongoing cut trying to get to 185 pounds. I hit the gym usually 4 times a week, never less then that though.

    Workout - Well today was a weird day for me, been busting hump at the gym all week, so i decided just to work out whatever upper body muscles felt good today and weren't feeling like they would explode

    DAY 2

    I am up in the air about hitting the gym today. I've been 4 days straight and am seriously hurting today. I really want to get at least 40 minutes of cardio in, but its gonna be tough to do ANYTHING today cuz i have my daughter with me for the day (I get her half the week and can only get to the gym if she's napping or out for the night and i give the baby monitor to someone in the house to keep an ear out)


    Since i'm not sure if i'll be hitting the gym today, i figured i'd get some early morning PROnom in me, in the form of lite and fluffy chocolate pancakes!






    These turned out absolutely DELICIOUS. A few of them turned out a little dry cuz i over-cooked them, but the ones that weren't over-cooked were nice and moist in the middle and absolutely delicious. ONLY thing i would have done different, would be either dropping 1/2 a tsp of baking powder or adding 1/4 cup extra almond milk, just to give them a little more moistness. Other then that they were delicious. I've made protein pancakes MANY MANY MANY times through my cut, and these were by far the tastiest out of any of the chocolate protein ones I've made. When I had whipped up the mix, i let it sit for a minute while the frying pan was heating up, and i guess the way everything reacted, the mix turned into a mouse looking substance...was kind of cool so i decided to try a little bit on the spoon, and it was freaking AMAZING. I would have just eaten it like that, but I was already had the pan sprayed lol.

    I will be making at LEAST 3 more batches of these through the cut. Am going to try 1 batch with rolled oats instead of flour to see how they taste with a bit of a denseness to them. One batch with adding an extra 1/4 cup of almond milk. And one batch with some PROnom chocolate syrup on top (gonna have to see how to make it so its nice and fluffy)

    haha, love my CL stack 8-) and i absolutely jumped on the bogo on the REDuction. A man's best friend on a cut. REDuction AM with some ephedrine = wake me up, crave my morning hunger pangs till lunch rolls around. The PM tastes amazing, but i gotta make sure i take it literally right before bed, otherwise i'll fall asleep doing whatever i'm doing (and get a damn good nights sleep on it!)

    BTW I decided to try another shake in water tonight. Used 6 ounces of water instead of 10.....and BOOM. HUGEEEEE difference. SO damn good. I have officially found my new favorite protein powder. 6 ouces in a water bottle, 4-5 total shakes of the bottle, completely perfect. Great taste, great texture. 6 ounces is the new thing when doing with water for me. I'm gonna test almond milk the next 2 days and see how it works out with that.

    DAY 3 - Weigh In


    While i'm doing this log, i'm also logging a 90 day weight loss no the losing weight section. I weigh in every FRIDAY so i'll be doing the same here and reporting progress. was 221.8 the night i got my pronom, came in 2.8 pounds lighter. most of it i'm sure was just water weight, but even so still works nicely for me =)

    9/24 weight - 221.8 (start of log)
    9/26 - 219

























    OK now on to the logging.


    Had myself a nice PROnom shake thismorning for breakfast. Tried it with some unsweetened coconut almond milk and it was delicious. Used 8 ounces thismorning since there's some natural sweetness to it already as opposed to water, and i think 8 ounces is perfect. Not too sweet, not too thin. Great tasting and a completely different one from drinking it with water. For the extra 60 calories, i think i'd prefer doing this every day ad it tasted that much better. Only gripe i had with it, for some reason, it didnt mix as well as it did in the water. Shook for about 20 seconds vigorously and still had a few small bubbles on the side of the bottle and in the liquid. Nothing major and still tasted ok, so i was fine with it

    DAY 4 - INJURY


    welp, got a little drunk last night at a halloween party and accidentally stabbed through my left hand down to the bone with a pair of scissors (FML) so i wont be hitting the gym for a few days until the cut starts to heal up as i dont wanna risk infection (no insurance right now). i'll continue logging my macros for the day starting today and will continue messin around with PROnom in cooking/baking and sharing with you guys. i know i can go do legs and cardio at the gym but not willing to risk infection...so i may just walk for the next few days.


    anywho, for those who wanna see the damage....

    so today was a pretty good eating day. got some food shopping done, dropped my daughter off with her mother, talked to the new girlfriend for a while, made a kick ass taco dinner (no shells or tortillas, just taco meat) and used my PROnom 23 to make myself a nice tasty desert ;-)

    what i wound up doing.....let it freeze for about 45 minutes, mixed it up, and let it freeze another 45 mins. Dont let it freeze too long or it will be all icy instead of ice creamy

    luckily i was drunk so i didnt feel it much haha...but boy did i feel it this morning! *sigh* i've been doing a little bit at home that i can....some situps and body weight squats while watching "breaking bad" just to keep active. i cant wait to get back to the gym on the lifting grind again 8-)

    DAY 5 - A Hurricane Brewing

    Well here on Long Island, we have emergency evacuations going on by the shores. Luckily I'm more central LI then anything, but still stinks. My ex lives on the water down on the southern coast of the island, and had to evacuate, so i picked up my daughter (wasnt supposed to have her till wednesday, but i wanted to make sure she was safe). I did get to the gym, which is where i met my ex to pick her up. Did 65 minutes of Elliptical with a 10-12 resistance and burned 800+ calories. Wanted to do some legs but figured with the high resistance on the cardio my legs go enough of a workout.

    On to the PROnom for the day. Got home and had a nice quick shake for recomp. Did 6 ounces of water with 1 scoop and drank it nice and slow, enjoying every last drop of it. The more i drink this stuff since day 1, the more i enjoy it, since i'm figuring out great ways to use it. Since the weather is junkie, i was thinking of using the remainder of my milk and eggs to make some protein cookies in case power goes out so it doesnt go to waste. gonna make em with the PROnom, so when/if i do, i will post some pics along with a recipe and cal count/ingredients as always.

    Day 6 - And so it begins


    Winds up to around 50MPH so far, and expected to hit 110 by tonight. massive flooding everywhere on the island, luckily i'm inland. still have power for the time being, but idk how long it will be for, so i'm getting an early entry in. I made a nice batch of PROnom cookies thismorning and had a few for breakfast.

    (made another try with 6 half sized ones also...1 spoon instead of 2)



    the smaller cookies turned out a bit dry, the bigger ones were pretty good. i decided against using any type of butter to avoid the extra calories and fat, but probably should have and just baked them less time and made them smaller (oh well, they are still damn good!)

    1/2 cup SWEETENED applesauce
    1/4 cup splenda
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 whole egg
    1 1/2 scoops PROnom 23 chocolate cupcake batter
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    1 cup flour


    i cooked them at 375 instead of 325 by accident (read the recipe wrong) for 9 minutes, and that's probably why they were dry. i'd give them 8 mins or so at 325 and they should be perfect

    macros if you do a batch of 15 regular size cookies (not 12 and 6 minis)

    .75g fat
    12.2g carbs
    3.5g protein

    DAY 12 - FUARK YOU SANDY


    Well, Hurricane Sandy knocked out my power, so i havent been able to log in a while unfortunately. I've been taking my shakes daily, but haven't done anything fancy unfortunately (since no power). Been taking them with 7 ounces of water or 5-6 ounces of almond milk and doing them as breakfast replacements. UNFORTUNATELY I have not been eating healthy at all. Trying to eat everything in my fridge (almost 2 pounds of brick cheese in 2 days! felt so sick but soooo good since i love cheeeeese) and freezer (including frozen pizzas, chicken nuggets, fries, ect) before it went bad cuz i HATE wasting money.


    With all that being said and done, i weighed myself Friday morning in the dark and was 221.6, and i'm sure a lot of that was water weight due to all the sodium in the stuff i was eating. No gym still with weights, but have been doing cardio

    Day 18 - FINALLY LET THERE BE LIGHTTTTT


    Well, I FINALLY have power back at home, which means a big food shopping tomorrow, and no more eating day by day, mainly eating out. My gym's power just got turned back on yesterday, so i have been there twice in the last 2 nights, so i'm getting back into things. Last night i was feeling down so i went out drinking, today i kept to my 1750 calorie limit, hit the gym hard, and will start regularly logging again on here. I am so sorry that things have been how they have been so far, and i feel like the power outage really screwed up this log, but from here on out there will be nothing but solid logging. i got a new workout journal so i'll be posting workouts, can FINALLY start cooking with the PROnom again (have been doing my shake with water every day, and is still amazing each day...although i found out shaking is the only way to really mix it well, stirring it is bleh)



    ALSO, DO NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER TRY TO MAKE HOT CHOCOLATE OUT OF PRONOM. IT DOES NOT WORK!!!! YOU GET A COTTAGE CHEESE TEXTURE SUBSTANCE AND ITS DISGUSTING!!!!!

    Day 20 - back on the grind

    Hit the gym hard today. Ate McDonalds for lunch cuz it was down the road from my buddy's house, but didnt do too bad. had a mcdouble, and 2 mcchickens (no bread, just the patty). I was supposed to pick him up 1230-1 to hit the gym, but he wasnt at his apt, and i got there 1215, so i grabbed a meal while waiting, got back, and he wasnt there still around 1245 so i said **** it and left. he didnt answer his phone or anything, but he left it in his car. oh well, got my workout in, killed it on cardio (still drenched) and am gonna go for a walk in a bit since its 69 outside right now and sunny here on Long Island (mother nature is finally giving us the reacharound after effin us in the a the last few weeks)

    Woke up nice and early today and had a job interview with the local cable company, everything went great, just waiting on final word and will hopefully start training early next year. Picked my daughter up and walked around the mall with her a bit, she fell asleep in the car, so i brought her in to nap and made myself some lunch. Had a nice bowl of home made chili and some PROnom pudding for desert.....except it wasn't really pudding...




    instant pudding didnt seem to want to work out too well with the protein powder mixed in. it clumped together in some spots like jello, but not entirely. still tasted great =P

    Day 24 - Weigh In

    After making some progress and dropping to 217.2 last week, i gained a bit this week. I think it was partly due to the fact my body needed a re-feed yesterday and i destroyed a HUGEEEE dinner late, which is still sittin. Was 218.8 thismorning, but i'm sure its actually closer to 216ish (ate a 1/3lb burger on a bun with 3 ounces of pepper jack, a big ass bowl of mashed baby white potatoes....like 15 potatoes lol....with sour cream and melted cheese, 2 cups of hormel chili, and 2 cups of chicken and rice soup...and a bag of sweet chili rice cakes.....all within like 90 minutes lmfao)



    Anywho, took a little different approach to thismornings PROnom serving





    Made myself a nice shake....but different then normal.


    8 Ounces of Tropicana 50 O.J. w/ pulp
    1 Scoop PROnom chocolate
    Handful of ice cubes


    blend it up, and it was DELICIOUS. Tasted just like those chocolate oranges they used to have (may still have em, but haven't seen them in ages). Absolutely worth a try if your into different things. Sweet n tangy, absolutely refreshing, and very filling....not bad for under 200 cals! got 2 full cups like that out of the 1 blend also!

    Day 25 -


    Decided to try something new today. After seeing all these yummy deserts ppl were doing, i tried my own


    Pistachio PROnom Fudge


    Very quite simple.
    1/2 cup of de-shelled pistachio nuts
    1 scoop of PROnom


    Put the pronom in a cup, and slowly add water while mixing until you get a thick sludge like substance. Put the de-shelled nuts on some non stick, and pour the protein sludge on top. Throw it in the freezer for an hour, and when you take it out, its good to go. Eats just like fudge, and is amazing. Really enjoyed it alot and lots of good fats and proteins from the pistachios

    Day 27 - Back in beast mode


    Was feelin good today, and hit the gym HARD! Brought myself a nice big double scoop water bottle filled with Purple Wraath to keep me going, and that it did.

    Cable Pull Downs - 40 10x3 | 50 8x3
    Cable Cross Overs - 50 10x3
    Cable Leaning Bicep Curls - 40 10x3
    Machine Fly - 150 10x5
    Bicep Curl Machine Single Arm - 50 10x3

    Elliptical Trainer - 45 mins - 3.09 miles, 513 cals burned



    Felt amazing, best workout i've had in a while. Been concentrating on upper body too much, gonna work on abs and legs tomorrow





    As for my PROnom, i made a nice protein shake

    1 Scoop PROnom Chocolate
    8 ounces skim milk
    1 - 100 cal pack of mixed emerald nuts (walnut/almond)
    1 cup of ice

    blended until smooth, and proNOM is right...NOM NOM NOM!!!!!! so dang good!
