Oh- Okay... So basically it's a fresh sausage summer sausage.
At some point I want to get into making dried/cured sausage that you cold smoke over a long time. Unfortunately I've never done it myself and the only people I knew who have done it are dead. The last thing I want to do is try to do it blind from a book and make Boccolism sticks!

If I felt confident that I could safely smoke dry sausage I'd start sourcing the bricks for a permanent smoke shed today.
I'm connected to a lot of scrapper networks and websites, so as long as I'm willing to do it myself (Which I usually am) I get build things for a tiny fraction of the price.
Some of my in-laws recently commented that I should just always buy new on everything to set an example for my daughter on how to buy quality goods. (They have more money than they do skills)
I honestly don't think that's right. I mean no matter how you break the biscuit, my daughter is going to grow up in a world where the population will increase as resources decrease. Sure there are A LOT of details on how that will play out, but the reality is that over the course of the next 50-100 years, the more resourceful you are the better you are going to do.
Spending money stupidly is pretty easy... Learning how to do things for yourself, especially when the people who know how to do those things are dying... That's going to be worth more and more as time goes on.6'4"

Yeah my Brother in law is driving me NUTS.
The last time I went to check on Father in laws house the whole damn back bed rooms were SOAKED, floor boards puckered up, foundation drenched... Water softener was drizzling on the floor for 2+ weeks.
Water in the house was set wide open, pressure drum was set to MAX pressure, back flow hoses from water softener were disconnected from the sump. Water softener was unplugged, but the bypass wasn't engaged.
I reset all the pressures and turned off all the valves to shut down the water again.
Thought it was vandals or something but there was no sign of anyone breaking in.
Come to find out that the last time Brother in law had been there 2+ weeks earlier he decided it was important to shut down the water softener so it would be damaged. Apparently in his mind we wouldn't want to risk damage to a 1989 water softener. We'd be out a dozen or more dollars!
Unfortunately he doesn't know how to shut down a water softener, how to bypass it, or even how a water valve works. He actually thought the back flow hose was a back up power line.
He basically just screwed around with it... Walked away... It went into cycle and just poured water on the floor FOR DAYS.
I VERY politely informed him that he screwed the pony BAD... Causing a least a thousand dollars in damage.
The only thing he did was e-mail me instructions about how I needed to sell more furniture to make more money to afford to get the floor fixed... Then told me to do a good job fixing the floor he ruined.
I am at a point where I'm just straight exhausted by "One-Trick-Pony" specialists, who think that googling some stuff up is the same as having authentic experience in it.
So now I get to throw an entire day of productivity writing and selling to tear out and repair the floor he wrecked.
I honestly need to start charging people an incompetence tax!6'4"

LOL... I almost forgot about the wax ring thing!
I actually need to replace the one in my down stairs bathroom soon!
My next great challenge, other than Father in law's place, is installing a 4 foot by 7 foot plate glass window into the tack room of the barn.
It's an insulated window with argon inside it... Got it in salvage for $20... Normally goes for $300 if you buy it new. But it's not like Argon and glass expire like milk!
It'll be interesting since I'll have to frame out new headers in the wall and stringers in the floor. All from Father in law's scrap wood.
Once I'm done and everything is insulated I'll be able to use it as a greenhouse attached to the barn.
Most people who "Buy new" would pay around $500-$750 for this. Total cost to me... $20... And of course time to do it. Probably will cost me $150 in writing time to do it.6'4"

Other than old US and German, no unfortunately. I haven't bought new tools in years, I scour yard sales for old stuff. If you think Nainoa is a cheap bastard, he ain't got NUTHIN on me, lol.
Here's one for ya. Years ago I fixed the soon to be SIL's car for her, she was almost out of gas and put the fukn 4 stroke mix in it and the car died. Dropped the tank, cleaned it all out and put it back, primed the system for her. My price? A sub, still waiting for that fukn sub now 27 years later. Gotta love family.

Yeah it's amazing how much money you can save by doing it yourself, being thrifty, looking for old things that just need a screw replaced type of thing.
I save THOUSANDS of dollars a year that way, and I'm not even really all that handy!6'4"

I set up RSS feeds for things I'm looking for on Craigslist so I get first dibs. When I renovated the garage I got 3/4" plywood for $10/ sheet. There are people out there breaking down plywood shipping crates now. The plywood is 1x1.5 metres and a shade thicker than 3/4, it has also been treated with waterproofing.

It gets worse, as he sends me 1-2 e-mails each day with tips from his imaginary world.
He's also one of these New Earth Creationists... He believes that the Earth is only 6,000 years old... The dinosaurs died out in 1943, and any time one of his cockeyed ideas doesn't logically make sense he washes it away saying that God will make it happen... So basically... He relies on Magic.
He tops this off by telling me that anyone who eats pork is going to hell.
This also means his children have NEVER tasted bacon.
I'd have to look up the fine details, but I believe not allowing your children to eat bacon is a form of child abuse????

Send him back emails making fun of religion. you know, the ones where the preacher asks the guy if he found Jesus and he replys are you sure this is where you lost him. I'd have to be a SERIOUS prick to him as I am to family that has dicked me over. M's parents found doG with this preacher that's the reincarnation of Jim Jones and I FLAT OUT refuse to go to that fukn freak church. They don't care for me, i don't care for them so I'd say we're even. I have no place in my world for hateful ass holes.

So I had a fun day. I was going to go to a 3D bow shoot with the stable manager, but we had to go to his buddy's house and set up the bow he was buying from the guy. It took too long to set up, so we didn't make the shoot. Luckily, this guy had like 7 targets set up on his land, so we just shot there. I've literally only spent about 20 minutes of my life shooting a bow, and maybe 10 minutes shooting lefty with my friend's bow. I was hitting the vitals on the targets from up to 40 yards away almost every time. They couldn't believe I was just a newbie and I wasn't even using a release.
Now I'm making beef and noodles with some of the roast I canned last year. First time I've opened a jar of it, and it's AMAZING! I will be watching for sales to can much, much more. The hardest part of a zombie apocalypse will be pretending I'm not excited.

Damn.. I need to quit my real jobs and just become a professional wheeler and dealer selling scrap and used vehicles!
I'm taking point on selling off my Father in Law's stuff for dumpster money. There are a lot of people just jumping on this stuff.
I should go into estate sales!6'4"
