    lol fuk that.
Yeah I couldn't get my snow blower started in the first mega storm of the year. Tried to drive down some ruts and hand shovel the rest. Took me 3 hours and I still had to breakdown and pay a plow service.

Yeah when I had a 50 foot driveway, I was quite content to just shovel like a wild ape... Good exercise.

But now, literally my driveway with the dog leg to the garage, is as long as my old STREET used to be.

Yes, I catch all my Stripers/Hybrids on Hartwell. My biggest is only 24# but I plan on some bigger ones this year. Lake record is around 60#, big for land locked Stripers. Last year was my 1st time hunting them alone but shoulder held me back. I most guided for friends or helped other Captains just to be out.......couldnt run my boat alone in a sling.

Anyone ever around this way to fish just let me know.

I fish Lake Cumberland in Southern KY for stipers. They have lowered the lake for dam repairs and we had a die off of big stripers and walleye a few years ago. We haven't caught a striper over 10# since. We have landed several around 20# or so in the past.

Fishing trip trade would be nice. Do you hunt any?

It's not always the case that it works that way, it's just a rule of thumb... So lets see if we get some crazy warm spell next week!
They updated the forecast and it looks like we will be getting this heat... Calling for high's in the mid 30's late this weekend/early next week.

AK is still HOT (For them) and will gradually return to slightly above normal...

So this at least bodes well for the air masses coming here during the coldest part of the MN winter.

    Sorry to hear.

I've lost 3 in the last 3 years. 2 were older dogs that I had to put down, one was a 3 yr old hit by a vehicle. All were tough, but I knew it was best for the older dogs. If you are thinking about the decision, no doubt it is the right thing to do. That won't make it any easier now, but it will later on.

Not personally, but I've had plenty of guys hunting with me that have taken them. I've shot plenty of birds, but I guess I'm just cursed. The other guy always hits the banded ones. I had a shot at a honker with a neck band a while back, but I missed.

    Why, did you shoot one?

One of my buddies blasted a banded pigeon earlier this year. I wasn't with at the time, but he said it just kept circling his dekes for 10 minutes, so he blasted it for retrieving practice for his dog. When the dog brought it back, they found the band and realized it was a racing pigeon. I'm guessing he didn't win his race.

^^ I've got a friend with a whole lanyard full of them, but I don't have any for myself. I mostly hunt the coastal salt marshes though and you don't typically see a lot of banded Gadwall, Widgeon, Redheads, or Teal which is mainly what I shoot.

Hey Nainoa, you'll appreciate this - my wife and I just finished re-watching (well, first time for her, second time for me) the Battlestar Galactica series thanks to Netflix.

I had forgotten how good that series was and how moving the finale was. Good television that was.

Yeah I watch a lot of *** (It's actually refreshing to take a break from all the sex, violence and abusive language on American TV) And currently the *** owns the rights to Battlestar Galactica. So I keep seeing it advertised, but it's on at 9:00 in the morning on weekdays. So I'm waiting for the natural syndication marathon that brings it into American Primetime.

Speaking of TV... I did catch a little bit of the new season of Dual Survival.

I guess they replaced Dave because they found out he inflated his military training background... And now they've got a real special forces guy... But it's funny/crappy... Because from what I saw he does a lot of stuff to ham up to the camera.

Either that or the guy likes drinking his own piss more than Bear Grylls on a thirsty Thursday!

I have taken a couple of geese w/ bands.

One was the first goose I called in using decoys. I was hunting w/ my brother who had never killed one, so I let him shoot....3 times. I then made a perfect shot. Great memory etched in my head.

Another was my youngest brother and I. We saw a flock land in a pond about 1/2 mile away, walked over, slipped up the bank, and jumped them. The odd thing about this one was the band was thin, almost sharp. I couldn't find the paperwork just then, but I think that goose was about 13 yrs old and had that band on for 12 years.

I was also hunting w/ kids once and told the kids when this flock of geese comes in shoot until your empty. I dropped one on my side and told the kid next to me "Great shot". It had about every kind of band/tag you can imagine. I hope that kid still has them.

I saw that. Dude is way too cinematic and over dramatic with everything he does. Killing the pig almost looked like a soap opera actor who had 5 minutes to rehearse a scene and got thrown into it. I liked Canterbury, too bad he lied about some stuff on his resume I guess. What's funny is I was following his YouTube vids and such before that TV show was ever on the air.

Nice... Yeah I've really gotten into the *** programming... The *** Top Gear is absolutely hillarious... I mean I don't care for the parts of it that are all just racing and talk of horse power... It's just not my thing etc... But the "Challenges" like "Make an amphibious car with a thousand bucks and cross the english channel" or "Drive across the Kalahari Desert, with a car built in the 1970's" With the pranks and burns they pull on each other... All of those bust my slats.

Still when it comes to BSG, it would be nice to see Tricia Halfner in a skimpy dress again!

Yeah you can tell that Cody isn't overly impressed with the guy's melodrama... Because you can tell Cody wants to learn more stuff from the guy, and thinks he's got something to teach him... But he's still not sure what's legit info and what's macho over acting because he's not used to being on camera.

LOL Cody gave him a look on that 1st episode that looked skeptical exactly like the meme with the little African kid giving the skeptical look to some aid worker.
Cody's statement is an interesting one:
I have faced many questions regarding this change and much has been said on the Internet as well. Any inquiries regarding this matter should be directed to Discovery Channel. However, since I have no doubt that the questions will continue, and I have an ethical and professional responsibility to do so, I am making the following statement.

The goal of the survival instructor is to keep people alive. To accomplish this goal, honesty, integrity, trust and competence must come first. These core values cannot be compromised or people’s lives are needlessly put at risk. In a profession where human lives are at stake, dishonesty about ones background and experience is an inexcusable breach of trust.

I have dedicated my life to this profession. It is my passion and livelihood and I have spent the past 23 years developing expertise in it. I hold the responsibility of being a survival skills instructor as sacred. It is incumbent upon all of us in this field to insist that the highest standards of honesty, integrity and honor are maintained at all times.

For all of the aforementioned reasons, I am proud to work with my new Dual Survival partner as we take the show to even greater levels. This is my final statement on the matter at this time. To my fans and to those who have offered support during this very challenging time, I offer my greatest gratitude and thanks.

Cody's statement is an interesting one:
I think Cody should really just have his own show.

Cody Lundin "Unchained by drama queens."

I mean the guy needs to do a little more hunting and a little less grub munching and he'd be like THE authority on wilderness survival.

I liked that we got to see his home.

I knew he lived in an earth home... But I was picturing more like "Cave" with a door and some candles... He actually kind of has a cool place!

Agree, Cody should definitely just have his own show and maybe bring in a guest or two for special episodes but the show would primarily be Cody.

Yeah that would be cool... Just "Survival" with Cody Lundin... And just how a show like No Reservations has "Fixers" who are experts or guides at XYZ thing about food and travel... Cody could have other experts join him for an episode.

I can see Cody being all "I don't know anything about jungle, but I'm meeting up with Pedro who's lived here all of his life and he'll be joining me for the the next leg of my trip."

^^Exactly. I think that would make for a much better show, but only if the expert actually played a part in the show. Otherwise you just have another Les Stroud/Grylls program. I suppose it might be tough to find so many "co-hosts" but it would be interesting and would be awesome for random local outdoorsmen at various locations to get a TV opportunity with a little pay.

I thought Les Stroud and his Survivorman show was pretty good... It even made a brief comeback a while ago. The problem with Survivorman was the whole "All alone, filming myself walk away... Then walk back... Then walk away again!"

Like how exhausting it was for him and the breaks in filming continuity affected the story telling of the show. If he would just have a camera man with him... Even if the camera man just sat there and didn't talk to him, it would vault him to being one of the top survival/nature shows.

Bear Grylls... Meh... If you take away all the piss drinking, camo made from your own poo, eating raw animals when there's a perfectly good fire burning over your shoulder... When you take all of that shock factor stuff and just set it aside... I wasn't all that impressed with Bear.

He's got all the appeal of that kid in kindergarten, who if you paid him a quarter would eat his own boogers... Then afterwards you almost puke from watching it and kind of wish you still had your quarter back!

Les is awesome and I wish they'd send him with a cam crew or at least some asshat making minimum wage to tote around his cam gear and run back to get his stuff. It's hard enough half staved and dehydrated and then you have to WORK too. You're right the quality of the show suffers because of it, and it takes a toll on the person as well. I think Bear would be cool to go camping with, but his "survival" TV show kinda sucks.
