It is snowing here. I remember seeing a cartoon of a Canadian shovelling snow and thinking (thought Bubble) Fack I love snow and Canadian winter. The second dump on his property the same thing. The third dump he snaps shovel in half lol. We have had only two storms. And I only had to shovel three times but shovel is intact.

Yeah there's a storm headed this way, supposed to snow from tonight through to Tuesday morning...
They said the worst of it will be in a 50-75 mile wide line... Guess who lives in that little zone?
Local weather is calling for 9-12 inches over that time!6'4"

So far it's much lighter here than they called for... But still anything over 3-4 inches and I have to snow blow... And for me and the blower on that 850 foot driveway, 4 inches is 2+ hours... 12 inches is 2.5+ hours.
It's ironic that I have to put the truck in 4 wheel drive just to take the garbage out!
But I guess that's just my lifestyle now!

Nah, if I had a big draft horse, he and I would just be eye balling each other all the time as we postured for dominance... And he might actually take me on size and reach.
A mule on the other hand, I could just head lock until he accept submission and then I could use him to pull logs from the woods old school!

We got about 8" from Thurs night on. But, it's sunny and in the 40's now. I hope to get some fishing in later this week.

A step backwards is better than a setback.
If this (insert whatever trivial thing that is upsetting me) is the worst thing to happen today, I'm going to have a great day.

Ice fishhing is awesome. In the 40s you have open water. I lived for two months up North living off fish and whatever we could hunt for two months. Was a great experience. And on some nights saw the northern lights twisted and spiraling in the night sky. This was in the summer though. Funny thing is the misquitoes don't bug you if you don't bathe with soap they are attrracted to it. Irish spring =Irish sting . Just bathed in the lake no soap of course. One night we had a black bear invade our camp. I woke up to it sniffing me while I was in a sleeping bag by the lake. I did not move and it found our beef jerky from the trading post/store a few miles from us and carried it away

Nice...
Yeah I have a fish house... Which is basically an old 1972 nomad camper that I gutted and put a wood stove into with holes in the floor.
Back in the day my buddy set up his tent right in front of a bear baiting station... He woke up in the middle of the night with something sniffing his ear... And he started screaming "BEAR! BEAR! BEAR!"
All his city kitty friends freak out because their tents are all full of doughnuts, fruit and jerky...
Everyone is just wrecking their tents and messing up the campsite trying to run away....
Turned out that what was sniffing his head was just the dog that belonged to someone in their party.6'4"

That crew of guys has always been such a bunch of "Wilderness Posers"
They go stay on their Dad's land/cabin, with their Dad's borrowed gear, get drunk and talk about how they have all this wilderness experience because they watched their Dad go hunting/camping/fishing.6'4"

Yeah back when I was on the road a lot one of my traveling partners favorite movies is Into the Wild. We'd often work out these deals with people we knew where we'd do some form of manual labor for them and they'd let us stay in their cabin.
So we'd travel on business into the area, take care of all our meetings, then head out to some remote cabin, and put in or take out a Dock or split a cord of firewood, then we'd drink and beer and watch his copy of Into the Wild (Since most of these remote cabins have no TV, but they all have DVD players etc...)
Ultimately I've got all these memories of watching Into the Wild, while being deep in the wild!
I've got the sound track to, which is all Eddie Vedder... Pretty much all the songs from the movie, except of course the topless scene where they're playing "Hammer Time."

Living in the city makes me hunger for the wilderness. Living in the wilderness for awhile has made me hunger for the city. I am bi-polar that way now. Up North travelling by Bear Skin Airlines (SRS) and living there for two months was good. Though I had some comforts so not hardcore then. Prolly should read the book I just don't like knowing how it ends in tragedy. When I was very young I got to go to my Grandfather's cabin and stay with my Grandfather and Uncle's. I felt like a man for doing this lol. I remember when they got a deer. That sweet deer meat smell I cannot forget.

I grew up in that narrow sliver of time before the explosion of suburban sprawl... My neighborhood was RIGHT on the city line... 100 feet in one direction was "Town" 100 feet in the other direction were goats and honey bees.
I tried taking to the city life... Tried and tried and tried... And every time the amount of conformity that city life demands of you in order to get the most out of it, wore out my soul and left me flat miserable.
Living 10 miles from town seems to be my preferred distance.
The Irony here is that it takes exactly the same amount of time for me to get to the nearest Wal Mart as it did when I lived in the city... It's just now I only pass through 3 stop lights, when in the city it was 13!6'4"

I came from a small town but had to graduate to a large city for employment. There are many perks here. And I work here. I studied shamanism for years and came close to leaving everything behind to follow that path (Carlos Castenada style). Though he got very sick and died before transcending his body and apparently his group of followers committed suicide. It is not known for sure. They simply vanished. I would not want to go the road of psychadelics as I did in the 80s again. As the greatest insights are gleaned in sober states of mind. I just came close to that life...once.

I've got some friends who raise horses as a hobby. (Must be tough having that kind of money to pay for animals you just stare at 90% of the time)
But they're both under 5'4" and they live like recluses.
The first time they invited me to their place and the horses could look someone in the eye without bringing their head low. All the horses came over to the edge of the fence and just stared at me fascinated by the big human.
The Big Stallion kept looking me in the eye balling me like "You know I'm still bigger than you right?"6'4"

I haven't made it yet, sitting in a training room 8-5 for last three weeks and had maybe 4 hours of training. All the new onboarding class is stuck waiting for our preliminary security clearances to come through. Can't touch anything until we get those approvals. Two peeps have already disappeared and not come back.
