First in on this, even though I have no access to hunting/fishing for at least 8 months out of the year.

Thread closed ? I totally understand Nainoa - I was born and raised in the countryside - only had to go to the big cities to study (even studied 6 months in Chicago). I do consider going back and get a private practice in one of the smaller cities and live near my favorite salmon rivers and good hunting too.

Yeah it's boards policy that all chat/discussion threads are closed at 10,000 total posts... Boards wide if you have a ton of threads that are over 10K in replies and they're all active it slows the entire message board servers down.

Back before this policy was implemented in 08-ish there would be times when the boards would bog down like crazy for half a day.

Now that Fitty (The founder of the outdoor rec section) is gone/on long term hiatus I'm the defacto custodian mod of the entire outdoor rec section.

I hear ya... When I came out of college I worked in an Ad Agency for 10 years as a corporate drone... When the recession hit they showed me the door on my 10 year anniversary and they handed me my $150 gift card for 10 years of service.

I'd already been transitioning myself internally and in my daily lifestyle towards where I am now... I just didn't have the balls to make the leap while I was still in my "Corporate Comfort Zone."

Once I started proactively making the move in this direction things fell together in ways far better than I ever could have planned!

LOL... The rules of this thread evolve a little bit with each incarnation. Every now and then a bunch of people grab onto a running joke and so Fitty would add it to the rules along the way or at each re-posting... So I try to keep the tradition alive...

The rules are almost sort of a running history of old jokes past sprinkled in with actual code of conduct.

Bone on, Marinade in Lemon Juice, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, garlic powder and a pinch of curry powder...

Grill on indirect heat until it's 90% done... Then move it onto direct heat to finish and get nice grill marks.

If boneless skinless... My wife's new way of doing it (Before she got pregnant) was to put in a pan with olive oil a little water and a shot of tequilla... Lid on... Low heat... Flip once halfway through and then sprinkle with pepper, garlic and a little Cayenne...

    Serve with spanish rice.

It was back in the day... The first ramble... Fitty and Jimmy were at "Camp Fitty" and Jimmie got wasted while splitting wood or something... They talked about it on monday morning...

Then I told the story about how when I was 17 I got all drunk and a guy started wrestling me and I hit him in the leg with an axe.

This prompted Fitty to add to his list of rules at Camp Fitty "No Axes while drunk."

The first 8-10 rules of the thread are taken directly from Fitty's list of camp rules.

    I Hear ya...

I'm going to avenge my low-on-fun summer by working from the Fish house every Friday. Going to drop it on the west bay of Lake Alexander (Half hour from my house, so I'm close enough to appease my wife and baby doctor) The west bay is nice for crappies with mixed Walleye and Pike.

2 and 3 winters ago we had a nice pattern there where someone in the group would always get a deer... We'd make venison brats and then head out on the ice with a cook pot a jug of water loaf of old bread and a couple of ketchup packets... Just turn the heater over boil the brats and chow down in the portable...

Or once I can get my fish house out with it's wood stove for heat there's just always a stew simmering on top.

There is a chicken corona recipe that is just awesome... But it's not a beginners recipe.

Take a Boneless Chicken breast... Pound it flat into a Paillard (Sheet of meat)

Stuff it with rice, cheese spicy peppers (Jalapeno) and minced onion.

Then wrap it like you would a roast except with a layer of bacon!

Skewer to hold it all together... Grill on low heat, basting lightly with a glaze of lime and tequilla.

Then wrap it like you would a roast except with a layer of bacon!

Skewer to hold it all together... Grill on low heat, basting lightly with a glaze of lime and tequilla.
That sounds freaking delicious but like you said, aint for beginners

Just because you try to make your own copies of other threads and be all too cool for school doesn't mean they get to take priority over the longest running chat thread in this section... In fact the original version of this chat thread was the central impetus for the entire OR section coming into being.

Damn... How the hell did you do that?

I once OBLITERATED all my toes loading plywood!

I'd been working at a hardware store for 3 years so I was used to loading lumber rather quickly with co-workers.

On one of my days off I went to get some 3/4 inch plywood to build a kitty playhouse for the two kittens I'd just got. I took my buddy with since he had a truck. I didn't really think that he'd never loaded a 4X8' sheet of plywood in his life. I went way too fast for him and it slipped on his end, pulled it out of my hands and came down sharp end right across my toenails. (No steel toed boots on my day off!)

Straight up splattered the bottom of my toes and blasted my toe nails off. Filled my boot with blood that I had to pour out. No medical insurance at the time so instead of going to the ER I went to one of those free clinics where they bandaged everything up and gave me a bunch of free sample pain meds.

It takes them like a month of making short flights and stops to get there.

They over winter there... Slowly moving west until they connect to the Mississippi again... And then one day they just decide to fly all the way back up here in like 3-4 days of hard pressed flying.

It's weird that they take 2-3-4 months to get to their final destination down south... And then 3-4 days to come back!
I think we get most of our waterfowl from the Dakotas, Central Flyway mostly.

lol damn. For some reason root/toe injurys hurt worse.

As for my 22 escapade.. Lever action 22 while coon hunting. Just let the hammer down too fast after cycling a round. Got in a hurry while not paying attention and payed the price. I just tell eveyone I was trying to trim my toenails and missed.
