The only peppers you need to start this early are the true tropical peppers. Things like bhut jolokia, trinidad, habanero, Aji Dulce (Or really Aji anything)
If you're not growing exotic tropical peppers like Hartski and I do... Like say you're just planning on bell peppers, jalapeno or even cayenne... You'd be too early if you started them this far north.
My rule of thumb for those kinds of peppers is to start them the day after Valentines day.
If you're not sure... Look at the number of days till harvest on the seed pack (Or website) Anything that is 92 days or less you can wait on. Anything that is 100 days or more, you need to get them in the soil plugs ASAP!6'4"

I soaked up the excess water in my potting tray and the temp did come up. But not enough for me to be happy. I think BOTH of my heat mats are coming to the end of their days. The oldest one could only seem to get up to half power last year... And it was from 2007... The newer one (Which it's on now) seems to only be capable of 70% of it's normal heating and that one is from a clearance sale in fall of 2009.

Just catching up in here. Maybe I will get to fish some in Feb. and have something to contribute to the outdoor thread.
Yesterday marked 27 years of full time employment w/ F & W. I hope to make it another 5.5....we'll see.My current log

A step backwards is better than a setback.
If this (insert whatever trivial thing that is upsetting me) is the worst thing to happen today, I'm going to have a great day.

I did exactly 10 years in the old evil ad agency and the day they told me they were getting rid of my entire department and letting me go was almost a relief!
Granted that had become a really toxic environment.
It's hard to work with people you don't like and wouldn't befriend in the regular world, for a long stretch of time.6'4"

Pretty cool...
My Daughter has my "Big" gene...
At 11 months all of her clothes are 18 to 24 month size!
Today my mother in law stopped in bearing gifts... A bunch of little girl clothes. Only one outfit actually fit.
So my mother in law says "Well I'll just give these to the step-nieces."
Which are 1 month and 6 months older than my daughter.
Pretty funny that clothes which are too small for my girl are a little too big for girls that are older than her!6'4"

I completely intend to raise her to be a lesbian!
At the end of the day she's not going to have the testosterone boost I did.... Otherwise she's growing at 90% of the rate I did.
5th grade is when the testosterone surge started for me... And I started 5th grade at 5'3" 133 pounds...
My 13th birthday I had a physical (For school sports) and I started 8th grade at 6'2" 225 pounds... So 6'2" is probably her max.
They say whatever your height is in inches one your second birthday... Take that number, double it and that should be final adult height.
Over the next year+ the "Average" is to grow 6 inches. She's just under 30 inches now... So she's probably going to come in between 5'10" and 6 feet tall.
Though her height isn't as impressive as her ape like strength.
I have an ecto-meso body type... My wife is an endo-meso... I think our daughter got both Mesomorph genes. We've started taking to calling her "Little Girl Bam-Bam."

I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless man who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner.
I took out my wallet, extracted ten dollars and asked,"If I give you this money, will you buy some beer with it instead of dinner?"
"No, I had to stop drinking years ago," the homeless man replied.
"Will you use it to go fishing instead of buying food?" I asked.
"No, I don't waste time fishing," the homeless man said.."I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive."
"Will you spend this on hunting equipment?" I asked.
"Are you NUTS!" replied the homeless man. "I haven't gone hunting in 20 years!"
"Well," I said, "I'm not going to give you money. Instead, I'm going to take you home for a shower and a terrific dinner cooked by my wife."
The homeless man was astounded. "Won't your wife be furious with you for doing that?
I replied, "Don't worry about that. It's important for her to see what a man looks like after he has given up drinking, fishing and hunting."

Just walked down into my office and saw that ONE tiny Aji Dulce pepper has finally sprouted. He is apparently the last Starfighter-Samurai!
Now I have the question of what to do with the tomatoes.
I had to do a germination test to make sure my seeds stocks were viable. Then I always struggle to decide what I want to do with the ones that sprouted.
I mean they are essentially 7-8 weeks ahead of schedule. So they'll be MONSTROUS by the time they are supposed to be in the garden. At the same time, I hate to just kill them.6'4"
