Market yourself. Sell your time privately otherwise there's no money to be made working for someone else.

Pay is nothing to be excited about. You can still earn a decent living as a top performer at a big box gym. 40-60k a year. It's not easy but it's a path to take, the to into management. The other route is to use the big box as your play ground to do well the move on to your own private business.

It's all about marking and selling yourself. You can make as little or as much as you want. Just like anything else.

What do you mean you "employ" trainers who make 60k? Do you mean trainers of your gym make 60k per year or you hire trainers that know how to recruit clientele?

    Travis99 is right on.
You can be a great trainer but if no body knows who you are you wont have many or any clients.
You have to be just as good marketing yourself as you are a trainer IMO.
Once you get a decent client base and your good word of mouth from clients will kick in and you amy eventually get more clients than you can handle.
I feel being on your own is the best way to go but just getting experience from working at a regular gym could help before you step out on your own.
    Good luck.
