I am in Chicago for business and have been trying out a couple of gyms. I was wondering if anyone who lives in chicago can give me any names of gyms that are good? I need good weights and dumbbells that at least go to 130, if not 150.
Can anybody help?

wow, that is funny. not even sure what to say here since you have never seen me, but you are making assumptions as to my strength.
Either you know of a good gym, or you do not. I am not on here to flex my Internet muscle like so many people are. I am just looking for a quality gym that I can hit the weights at.
As to your question, the 150's+ are for lat rows, and bent-over-raises (for hamstrings). As for flat dumbbell press, I don't do it. I do however, do incline dumbell press and can press the 130's for about 7 or 8 reps, hence the reason I am looking for a gym with them.time to clean up your own back yard, before you go knocking on your neighbor's door

If you're looking in the Loop, corner of Wacker and Adams, in the Hartford building basement is a World Gym. DB's to 200+. It's the only "Weightlifters" gym I've found around here. The rest are mucho dinero, executive mental masterbation type places where you might be cast down as "brutish" for lifting so much weight.
The world Gym is run by complete idiots, but it's a lifters gym..Green: It's the new Red

I appreciate everyone's response. Sorry if I got a little defensive, Brufiacci.
I might check that World's out. Money isn't much of an issue, as I am on an expense account, but I like to keep it reasonable. I might try the Chicago Fitness Center, although I am probably better off at World's. Got some time to kill tonight, so I might check them both out.
Oh, and you are not lying about people looking at you wierd. I went to X Sport Fitness in downtown, and other than it being totally packed, people were really weird about it when I was lifitng a lot of weight and making some noise (not that I am huge, but I was bigger than probably 95% of them in there...I can't touch the roidheads).
thanks again!time to clean up your own back yard, before you go knocking on your neighbor's door
