hardly any broadcasters(the ones here mostly suck tho, no racist. southern broadcasters are definitely easier to deal with on average. yes, i've lived in the south)
people are friendlier than the northeast(not as friendly as the south tho)
a lot of fake people, but they're easy to spot
lots of awesome local restaurants
most locations have good weather(deserts blow hard, but ill take the heat over deep snow)
plenty of good paying jobs, if you're skilled
dont have to rely on ****ty public trans for 99% of the cities.
latina women everywhere(they look better here than in the east, trust me. haven't checked out floridian latinas yet tho. soon)
short drive from lots of activities, no matter where you live

NY was cool in 1995 when most major cities didn't have anything, the internet wasn't around, consumerism hadn't completed it's total cycle of domination, and Giuliani hadn't neutered the entire city and turned it into Disney World.
Now living in NY only makes sense for gay men who can't find work in San Fran and various theater crowd hipsters.
NY is where working people find themselves, not put themselves. Real rich people with options live on the west coast for a variety of reasons, all of them obvious.
