Hey everyone, I just read this article by a former IFBB pro Mike Quinn who states that Ronnie Coleman is truly a genetic "freak" because he was "clean" (i.e. didn't use steroids) when he turned pro. The article is a good read. Here's a link:

I believe that there are some people that can build IFBB caliber physiques without the use of steroids ... Ronnie is probably in that elite class.
What do you guys think? Is Quinn full of it?

It's possible, but highly unlikely.
9 out of 10 people (including genetically gifted ones) juice to earn their pro cards.
They just juice even more afterwards to climb up the ranks.

i realy dont think so- look at the progress he made from 90 to 91- he was on the juice- he looked like a different person in a year time- u gotta be realy naive to belive he is natural

Mike's a good man but how would he know Ronnie was natural (I have my doubts). Personally I think that would have been major news - not something to keep secret.

I only think it is somewhat possible because the top amateur bbers 15 years ago were taking a whole whole hell of a lot less than the top or evern average amateur guys now.Originally Posted by haggy0927

Through our mutual friend I have been around ronnie a lot but would never and have never asked him about that.

Yeah I read this being stated too.
Since Ronnie is our biggest genetic freak today, it's quite possible that he turned pro without steroids. If anyone could do it it's him.

He turned pro in 1991 at the World Amateur Championships. According to the IFBB's website it states that he was 255 lbs.Originally Posted by verbatim9
