Relatively early in the promotions, you'll get a chance to increase the distance he can travel by a huge amount and then you can pick the ability that triples his medkits. So, you have a field medic that could also carry a beam/plasma rifle. They're useful. There's more risk/reward with the snipers, really.
I lost my first go at classic because, like you, I didn't give a **** about satellites or interceptors. I was doing fine until the aliens upgraded, panic everywhere, my interceptors vs their ufo is like a horseman against a tank. Final nail in the coffin was that because people were getting killed left and right, I didn't have enough soldiers in reserve for when my A team was wounded. So I had to skip a couple of missions and that meant more counties withdrawing funds, which meant I was operating at a loss. I just threw in the towel
Normal difficulty will get easier, just don't be a pussy and start reloading every time someone you like runs into a gang of cryssalids.

That's another thing I don't really understand - I've basically ignored the interceptor thing because it's only played in 2-3 times, and I haven't had any issues, so I just left it alone.
But yeah, I may have to switch fairly soon to get a real idea of the rewards/consequences. So far I have yet to load any of my saves, and I'd like to keep that going into the next session as well.
Sad to hear about the snipers though - I liked them quite a bit.the crew that poop poop poops crews crew

Three guys had an accident and went straight to heaven. When they got there, St. Peter said, "We only have one rule in heaven. Don't step on the ducks!"
They entered heaven and sure enough there were ducks all over the place. It was almost impossible not to step on a duck and although they tried their best to avoid them the first guy accidentally stepped on one.
Along came St. Peter with the homeliest woman he ever saw. St. Peter chained them together and said, "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this homely woman".
The next day, the second guy stepped accidentally on a duck and along came St. Peter, who didn't miss a thing, and with him was another extremely homely woman. He chained them together with the same admonishment as the first.
The third guy had observed all this and not wanting to be chained for all eternity to a horrible looking woman was very careful where he stepped. He managed to go for months without stepping on any ducks. Then one day, St. Peter came up to him with the most gorgeous woman he had ever laid eyes on. St. Peter chained them together without saying a word.
The guy remarked, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all eternity?"
She replied, "I don't know, you stupid *******."ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Driveby value stealing!
Yo what kind of shoes do you guys wear for the gym?
I am looking to buy some cross trainers, will be mostly wearing them for my day to day, but would like to bring them into the gym as well without carrying an extra pair.
What you guys think of wearing running shoes like the Asics DS Skyspeed 2? They are on sale at running warehouse for $49 after 15% off.
Thanks

Depending on the difficulty, the aliens will surge ahead in terms of tech. So, if you see a large or a "special" ufo and all you have are the stock weapons, it's another way the game will **** you. They miss no opportunities to do so! Case in point, after they down your jet, they'll blow out the satellite, which cause mass hysteria. Snipers can range from something like 10 kills to no shots fired, if you have 6 slots open, there's no reason not to bring them along. Pick squad sight, get a scope!

First playthrough deaths below... ignore the three in the middle, since they were the auto-generated ones from the tutorial session.
Second playthrough, only lolshack and Lencho have died.
Had the full roster of ranters on playthrough 1, even though not all of them got more than 1-2 missions in. Gotta get more money to hire the rookies to recreate the Rant Command for playthrough #2.the crew that poop poop poops crews crew

That's a lot of cannon fodder, mostly rookies. Who are the veterans? I'm sure you have some at this point. I thought about naming mine after the rant, but then I went with basketball players and porn stars.
If you're on the 2nd playthrough, I recommend turning off the tutorial."It seems like your goal is not to help."

Most of those were just from missions I wanted to spread some experience around, and they'd end up getting one-shotted.
Up until I started the second playthrough, the veterans were Chuzzle, TAAB, Lencho, and two others aside from the late Kvk & 'Naldi.
But yep, tutorial is off for playthrough 2. The decreased accuracy is ridiculous. Got Minderz to walk right up next to a sectoid and it still only said 65% chance to hit.the crew that poop poop poops crews crew

What's the deal with money? I've done 3-4 missions in a row and have only been able to spend about $10 during the breaks because I'm not making any income. Does money just come from doing the monetary-reward missions, or is there another way to get it (aside from the grey market)?

I keep telling you satellites are vital. Just take a close look at that menu. Launch enough of them and you won't need to sell a whole lot of stuff. With 8 or 10 satellites up and running(2 uplinks and a nexus in a row) I just got the 1000+ monthly income achievement.

Good lord. Yeah, I'll have to keep that in mind.
Started reading up on reddit's r/xcom threads... I have definitely been playing this game wrong so far. A lot of it has been more along the lines of "RUN RUN... HEY THERE'S COVER. 40% HIT CHANCE? LIGHT HIM UP! SAVE GRENADES! FIRE AT EVERYTHING FROM EVERY ANGLE!"
I will need to rework my strategy and possibly start a new playthrough again.
You didn't see the 'everyone' roster because I never posted it. That was just the memorial from the first playthrough.the crew that poop poop poops crews crew

The shiv opened up a ton of tactical options, but my strategy without it has been:
1. Probe with support guys. You don't want to dash out there with assault because they have the ability to dash and fire, which is wasted if you just dash and run out of turns just as you see a bunch of *******s. Probe with support and assault is always within reach across open spaces. Interior doesn't matter really. Snipers hang in back with squad sight and a scope or climb stuff(as long as it's not on top of buses or something with no cover).
2. Keep a heavy on the front line. Besides suppression, the chances of hitting 3 mutons or something with a rocket before they get a chance to do damage is much greater. They're slow, but it's worth it.
3. If you see a dark alley and not just a dark corner of the map(you can tell by the red walls) send some guys out there. You're almost always rewarded via flanking."It seems like your goal is not to help."

I have been quite on the subject mainly because I really don't feel overly confident in the yankees. But Ibanez has been, perhaps, the most clutch player in history. I mean are you srs? But the fact that DJ is donezo probably = we are done, b/c we are a all or nothing team. We rely too much on the HR, which is really a bad thing. that was the nationals downfall...you aren't going to win when you have that many Ks.
