    He got my vote.

    Why difficult practicality?

    Here here!

I think he got more votes (including mine), but not a higher percentage.

They finally opened a warehouse here. Selection still isn't as good as the catalog, but it sure beats the little kiosk they had at the mall.

    You would ask, wouldn't you?

Honestly, I would have to type out a novel to hit each point on their platform, and I just don't have the time or energy to do it right now. Speaking in very broad generalities, our society is becoming increasingly wired to depend on government. Drawing that back too quickly would be a shock to the system.

Also, I'm not sure human nature will ever allow for a true libertarian society to be successful.

    Far better than the alternative.

And it probably wouldn't be done that quickly.

I'll consider it a success if either of the two big parties think they are losing enough votes to the Libertarians that they re-evaluate their positions and actions and make some changes.

    Cherry-picking a little

America is the only developed country without universal healthcare. This is seen as such a basic right in other developed countries, it's sort of like saying America is the only developed country without roads.

    Universal healthcare is better, because:
The majority of people go to the doctor regularly. If I have a cold or flu that means I don't go to work, if I trip over or do something funny in the gym and there is a lasting pain, if I cut myself and it doesn't stop bleeding within half an hour...
These might all seem like minor things, but if they aren't treated, or at least examined, they can lead to catastrophic problems that burden the health system far more than 1 trip to my local gp.
I go and have regular check ups with my doctor too, even if I am feeling fine. I have had a melanoma removed from my right arm, which would probably have at worst killed me or at best meant very aggressive treatments over a long period of time in a hospital if I wasnt having regular checkups. The cost of one course of melanoma treatment in hospital would exceed the total cost of probably all of the rest of my checkups for life.

Universal healthcare also means that if for some reason I did need a course of melanoma treatment, me and my family would not have to shell out such a ludicrous sum of money that it would significantly degrade their quality of life.

Universal healthcare means that even though abortion is a choice, it isn't made as often because people with unplanned pregnancies are supported in the lead up to the birth, and are not expected to go back to work mere days after giving birth.

Writing this post also made me go and dig up last year's tax return. For universal healthcare last year, I paid about $600, which was included in my income tax. It should speak volumes that this was so little of a hit that I had to go and get my tax paperwork to even tell you this amount.

You might want the right to not have universal healthcare, but this is like "having the right" to not have electricity, or roads, or schools, all or which are things that some people use a lot more than others, all of which are funded to some degree by everyone.

That should be the goal. It's also a good example of how someone can influence politics on a local level.

It's not just us, it is every developed nation aside from America. Our country has issues. The healthcare system is not one of them

We dont pay in the order of $50,000 for a hospital visit.

Also I think "giant clusterfck" is a little exaggerated. I don't like either abbot or gillard and I voted for neither of them, but neither of them is going to destroy Australia. They are no Hussein, Taliban or hitler. I dislike a lot of their policy, but ultimately we do live in a pretty bloody stable country. And I am not saying by this that America is unstable either, because if you put Obama or Romney in charge, and America will be largely fine for the next 4 years.

Lol, the problem is that if you put snow tires on it, it's still a Mustang.

Tires make a huge difference. Proper snow tires, even on a RWD car with a front-heavy weight distribution, make it as good/if not better than your typical FWD couple/sedan that only has all season tires.

I know that....just making a smart *ss comment about Mustangs. Which kind of loses the effect when you have to explain it.

Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

When a service is provided for free, people abuse it, making it more expensive for the people providing that service.

Most everyone can afford even the most basic health insurance (for less than what most people pay for their monthly cell phone bill, or cable bill, or internet access) so that you can be protected should something terrible happen - all of these plans provide free preventative care.

The FMLA allows you to take 12 weeks off work without fear of losing your job.

I'm a pretty healthy guy - most everyone here is, why should we be forced to pay for healthcare we don't need?

And consequently destroy the development of life saving drugs in the future? No thanks.
