Yeah. That walk back to the rack to grab a heavier set.

Really? How far apart are they?

I agree. I don't barbell bench much. I much prefer to dumbbell bench even though the numbers are lower and not exactly glorifying.

The dumbbell bench uses stabilizers that the barbell doesn't so usually you can barbell bench more than dumbbell. I probably have a 15-20 gap I would guess.

I think most guys prefer the BB bench. It's usually packed and its easier for me to get a reg bench in the free weight area. The bench press is THE most popular thing at my gym.

I prefer the BB bench press. I'm at the point where I have to DB press 100s and up for reps and it's a liability for my shoulders. The barbell feels better. I really like BB incline presses.

I am at the opposite end of the spectrum. BB benchpress is really hard on my shoulders, but DB presses don't bother them nearly as much. I have a torn RC and torn front delt so I can only rep 90's at the moment. But hope to be repping the hundo's by the end of the year.

I think the only reason DB bench feels better is because I've done it more. If I did both equally I do not know which I would prefer. DB is just easier when the gym is packed. And I don't dare do them on "Bench Press Monday."

I ate dinner and I'm still hungry. Now what? 147 calories to go. I don't think cake will fit today.

For me it would be a fat free yogurt, or a couple of slices of turkey breat/roast beef. Depending on how my macro's were at the moment. If my fats were a bit low a spoonful of peanut butter.

I think my metabolism is ok but all my nuts are at work. Including my husbands

I ate cake 5 days in a row and didn't gain a lb. I actually lost .1 lb. go figure. Normally I don't eat dairy but I did this time and it had no affect on me for once. I was so happy I ate it all week.

Fats....71. Looking at my macros unfortunately I think it's going to be a shake. Huge bummer. Cake sounds so much better.

I ate dinner and I'm still hungry. Now what? 147 calories to go. I don't think cake will fit today.
barbell is absolutely terrible vs dumbbell for chest training
in fact, the only reason i can even imagine someone wasting their time with BB bench (besides specific strength training) is to add in another stimulus for max chest development

    DB bench:
1)can train heavily without a partner
2)develops stabilization muscles (much much better if your an athlete)
3)more natural range of movement (people who train BB every week develop shoulder issues)
    - also allows the ability for a better muscle squeeze at the top of the motion

The barbell takes getting use to. They were rough on my shoulders at first but once you learn the movement, it's much easier than DBs. Or atleast that's how it was for me.

Excellent post. Doesn't make me feel so odd for not doing the all important BB bench.

It sucks. Seriously. For me too. It's odd how quiet the house is when he isn't here. I always give him flack about talking too much but I really enjoy his company.
