Post Competition Blues, getting back in the saddle!

I am fairly new to the world of bodybuilding and competing. Last week I competed in my 2nd NGA show and placed 2nd! 3rd in my first show in April. The guy who beat me took the overall and won his pro card so I didn't feel too bad losing to him but not getting 1st place is still hard to swallow since that was what was in my mind. It's always on my mind and has been since I starting competing as a child in sports.

Needless to say this last week has been rough for me with motivation. All the months prior to I have been training like a mad man and doing everything I could to step on stage looking the best I can. All that build up and anticipation leading up to that big day. It was awesome and I had a great time, but now what? What direction should I go now?

I think the first and foremost thing to do after a show, besides eating something not on your diet plan and thanking all those who helped you get there , is to re evaluate and set new goals. I have gone through this last week not having a purpose, not having an address in my gps of where my next destination is. Don't get me wrong I think taking some time off is important, especially spending time with family who you may not have seen for that last few months as you have been spending all your time in the gym. My advice that I am taking myself is not to wait too long to set the new goals and to jump back in the saddle.

I always need something to work for, a purpose for why I am in the gym in the first place. Yes I want to be healthy, I want to have stress relief, those are goals that will never change for me. But again I need something on top of those goals, the next mountain to climb.

Specific Goals that I am looking at are:
    Bodyweight
    bodyfat
areas in my physique that I need to improve for the next show, the judges help you with that with their feedback and advice.
Next show date or photo shoot date.
    Big goals/maybe long term

    Here are mine:
    Bodyweight 200lbs, lean mass
    Bodyfat-Stay under 6%, show 4%
Areas of focus-Continue to develop depth of abs and bulk. Traps, and upper back.
    Next Show-Spring show
Big Goal- Enter the 2013 Bodyspace spokesmodel search and make the top 5. Get my pro card as an NGA bodybuilder.

The last tip I have is once those goals are set, let everyone know about it! It shouldn't be a secret and letting others know will hold you accountable.

So I just completed the last step and taking my own advice! Now time to do it!
