Hey,
Im trying to understand how I can bulk up, if i eat 100-500 cal over my maintenance calorie intake. If i try my gut gets bigger. but if i eat 100-500 cal less them my maintenance intake then my arms are staying little. I am eating 50% protein/30% carb/20% fat. I have been given good ratios by some good body builders over email but i cant keep bugging them. That was a ratio i was given to be cutting also 40/40/20 if im maintaining. Im 5,8, 154lbs, 19% body fat :/. Can any body help me to pack on muscle but not belly. Do i keep with the cutting ratio or bulking ratio? Thanks

I also think so, if this is the case ... Give us more explicit data of you and your training status an we're gonna try to give u a clear answer, but i think, with 19 % of body fat you just have to eat right, 40/40/20 is good, 50/30/20 isn't bad also, just don't you do to many thoughts, just train hard, eat right and the rest will appear after a time!

ACSM suggests that your macro nutrients should consist of 60% carbs, 20% protein/fat. That is what a lot of lifters/athletes use for their hypertrophic stage (increasing muscle mass.) You need a lot of energy to have long, 1-2 hour lifting sessions 4-6 days a week. A consistent 20% of your daily calories being protein will get your muscles pumped. To lose your body fat, you have to incorporate aerobic exercise (running, distance swimming.)
