    How is 8x3 for strength? For anyone that has tried it did you see any improvements?

    I read a book by Doug Hepburn awhile back where he advocates a progression of 8x2, with one rep added to one set per workout..soo basically

    1st workout: 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
    2nd workout: 3 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
    3rd: 3 3 2 2 2 2 2 2
    4th: 3 3 3 2 2 2 2 2
    5th: 3 3 3 3 2 2 2 2
    etc etc


    I didn't want to dedicate too much to this idea, becuase I wasn't sure if it would work, so I tried it for my bench only and I have seen pretty good results. When I get back from the Army I'm going to probably do all my lifts and follow that progression..its so slow and steady that you basically can't plateau, which was what Hepburn suggested was the idea. It bumped my bench up about 15lbs after the first time I tried it (which took about 4 weeks).

    EDIT: sets are done with 80% btw
