    Front Squat vs Back Squats

    inb4 stats
    inb4stats

I back squat 225 for 3-4 reps. I do 3x4 usually (PHAT). I was told by a powerlifter brah at the gym that Front Squats target the Quads a little more than back squats. I'm gonna try them today. I was wondering if I do that much weight, how much should I put on to do Front Squats? And what grip does everyone suggest?

As with any lift... Learn the movement first, then worry about weight. You need to have a very good feel of the front squat to gain from using it.

Start with the bar or maybe quarters. I use the cross arm grip because my wrists don't like to bend very much.

This hand positioning is very uncomfortable after a while of lifting srs.

I remember using this before and it was fine then I stopped FS started BS and added mass all round, when I went back to do a FS the flexibility in my arms had gone and I couldn't maintain this hand grip without experiencing serious pain in my wrists. Something to consider for those who lift and are just starting do a FS.

Look up elliot hulse he has some good front squat videos and favors them. As far as weight I think most people who train both can do 80% of the back squat weight but since you don't I would work up to 60% and see how that feels before upping the weight.
