Most disappointing country you've visited to? (SERIOUS)
This is a tough one for me but it would probably be my first trip to Thailand. Was not impressed at all. Prostitutes EVERYWHERE. It probably didn't help things that the first time I went there I went to Pattaya then Bangkok. Pattaya was garbage. Sh*tty beach and disgusting whores everywhere. Bangkok was not much better. It just seemed "dirty".
The second time I went I skipped the major cities and just chilled at places like Ko Phi Phi and a bunch of other small islands. AMAZING. But I can never get that first visit out of my head. So much hype and then I was like...meh?
Also some landmarks and places which were disappointments:
The Forbidden City (China)
Buckingham Palace (England)
L.A. (USA)

Sicily. It's a complete ****hole. Palermo is the only place in Italy I've visited I have not liked, and this is coming from someone who thinks Italy is the great place in the world, ever, of all time.
EDIT: ^^^ People tell me Malaysia is cool; I was supposed to go for some conference but had to skip for work

Agreed OP I was pattaya myself this summer and Bangkok. To choose which country disappointed me, um well..

i can't really say i hated any of my travels.
but Paris was dirty as fawk. i liked a lot of it (museums and chit), but smelled like piss everywhere.
people were rude as expected, food was too small sometimes terrible.

Gets talked up sooo much yet when i was there all i witnessed was an overcrowded, extremely smelly and dirty, rude, dull city in which you are constantly harassed for money or to take shiity audio CDs from aspiring 'rappers'.

A lot of areas on Oahu, Hawaii are pretty bad - almost like slums (especially a couple of miles behind Waikiki).

- car broke down in the middle of a two lane road going through crocodile infested swamp land.. Took 4 hours till rental company sent help

England...was just too much like NYC, just more drab because of the weather. Given I live 25 min from NYC, I'd rather go to a place that's totally different from what I'm used to and there were plenty of places in Europe I missed because of that...
