BIA? HOW precise is it?
In my Nutrition 121 class i had a Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis done, What does is sends an electrical impulse through your body and gives a whole bunch of measurements like intracellular body water % and a lot more. Well it said that i was around 18.5% body fat. I was wondering if anyone knew how precise this BIA test was.

If your avatar is a current picture of you, then I would say that test is incredibly inaccurate.

Its not incredibly innacurate, the test measures brain fat, and organ fat. You are much lower than the test claims by a caliper test, but your true bodyfat is that high. That test will give everyones measurements at a higher number than a caliper test will. If you still have the print off sheet, what were your phase angles and hydration levels? Just curious.

that makes sense about the measurements being higher and what not. The test didnt go into the phase angles. But it said that i had 59.2% TOTAL BODY WATER. It said that normal was 60.4%

59% isnt bad, drink more water and you can get it up to 70. all it takes is a gallon a day. Thats weird that it didt do phase angles, most of those machines do phase angles. Phase angles test how strong your cell walls are holding up against infection. Lance Armstrongs are 14, no wonder he was able to beat cancer. Average is probably around 5.
