Sucks you're having issues, but even if you're not doing the RTS programming, I think having an understanding of the concept will help no matter what program you're running. I'd be lying if I said the return to TM didn't make me smile a little bit though haha. One more cycle of 5/3/1 and I'll be back on it You read the 70'sBig Texas Method e-book right? Did you ever read the second part, Texas Method Advanced? I'm reading that now, it has a ton of information on how to keep progress going, I'll probably have to go back and read it again once I get going. It goes a lot further in depth with the understanding of volume day, and even though it doesn't mention cutting, I think some of the information would've helped me make some adjustments that might have prevented me from running myself into the ground like I did.

Good luck with that session bro! I'm doing TM recovery squats today. Let's see how my knee handles it
Lol happy holidays Juggz!
Haha I thought of this actually. I'm hoping that squatting more (but with fewer intense sets) will bother my knee less and dial in my squat form again.
Sorry bro, I've been really busy the last week or so. This week is lighter, of course, so I'll come by your log later today.
Yup, still planning to train. Thinking of hitting squats and deadlifts. Can you make it?
I thought you'd like the TM reference
I have the e-book but haven't gone through all of it. Maybe over the holiday week I'll read it all.## chillin at home crew

Notes
* Strong bench day. I didn't have my regular workout partner in the morning so I didn't push the paused bench sets until the last set (which I got a spot for, just in case). Inclines were strong again during the night session.
* Recovery squats went well. My form felt pretty good, although I could still feel the knee here and there.
* I'll take two days to rest for the holidays and will hit some squats and deadlifts with Ryan (shoefanatic23) on Thursday## chillin at home crew

Holy hell Tuan. I saw the 285x2, thought it was just a tad lower than I expected to be a PR for you, but still pretty damn strong. Then I read your notes and saw it was paused

I'd like to say that we're spoiling him for Christmas ... but the truth is we spoil him all year round
Paused bench is getting stronger for sure. Thanks J!
I wasn't planning to split the sessions, but things just happened like that. Yesterday morning, I went to that Gold's for the second time and attempted to bench. Everything felt off - bench was higher, distance between bench and the J-hooks was smaller, the floor was too slippery for my leg drive, etc. I ended up leaving and going back to my normal morning gym, at which point I had wasted a bit of time lol
So far I'm 0 for 2 at this new gym
It'll be fun## chillin at home crew

I think so. My lockouts seem to be stronger.
Haha me too! Good call on those shoes
More action music in the next vid
I like the sleeves. I thought I may have gotten ones that were too loose (5.0) but I'm glad to be wrong. The 5.0s get pretty tight after a while.

Thanks and wish you and yours the same bro!
Audie may have been referring to the Reebok Crossfit Nanos I was wearing for bench. I like them for benching as opposed to my sneakers or Adipowers - which I only use for squats.
Merry Christmas bro!
LOL
Definitely was good times

Notes
* So I'm visiting my parents and sister's family for Christmas and decided to get a session in with shoefanatic23, a bb.com bro living in the area.
* Being on vacation and in an unfamiliar gym, I definitely didn't have the same focus as I normally do. Didn't want to push it because of that, although squats felt heavy as always
* Looking at my squat set on video, I can see a few form issues, due to either the knee directly or my favoring the knee during a rep. I've come to the decision to stop squatting for at least 2 weeks to let the knee heal up completely. I'm not letting it get any better by squatting moderate to heavy weight twice a week since I still feel some pain a few days after a squat workout. Gotta take a couple of steps backwards to move forward again
Here's the video of the lifting session with shoefanatic23, set to "Transformers - Arrival to Earth (piano cover)"

Not hitting bench hard today.... Nails 295x1
Nice job my man. Smart choice to kill the squats for a few weeks to let the knee heal up. Tough decision but sometimes you gotta make those choices. You'll be better off in the long runPRs: Back Squat- 410x1 / Front Squat- 320x1/ Bench- 325x1 / Deadlift- 505x1

Finally ... My knee issue got as bad as it did b/c I continued to squat mod-heavy 2x a week. Had I backed off when the issues started I believe I wouldn't still be dealing with knee issues now.
Not sure about the video, had a bit too much of a Brokeback Mountain feel to it, was waiting for you to slap ShoeFanatics ass during his squatsKenshin and Dbone's Nursing Home Adventures (ongoing) ... http://tinyurl.com/ns23wak

Squats, DL's, and benching...that's one heck of a workout.
My current log

If this (insert whatever trivial thing that is upsetting me) is the worst thing to happen today, I'm going to have a great day.

Thanks for editing that video. Definitly broke back mountain times jkjk. All around a solid workout. Tuans 295x1 on a light chest day made me smh lol.. Definitly a beast on the bench and for a bad knee still hit some fairly heavy lifts as well. Any other NorCal folks here?
