Actually I've hurt my back before doing deadlifts - not seriously though. But it still makes me nervous when going for a PR, so I go up in small increments - 10 or 20 lbs at a time. Next attempt will be 465-475 depending on how I'm feeling that day

I'm so used to mixed grip that I'm more comfortable (and feel stronger) pulling mixed, even with the versa gripps on. Probably something in my setup that leads to this, but I haven't bothered to figure it out

395x2 PR (vid) ... Surprisingly, I'd never done anything higher than 385 for two or more reps, so this is a 2-rep PR
* I had some stuff come up at work on Thursday that just pissed me off the whole day. Instead of going for speed squats per Smolov, I wanted to hit a few heavy reps instead to get my aggression out. Stopped at 2 reps on 395 because I wasn't trying to max out on reps.
* I've decided to skip the second week of the Smolov switching cycle and go right into the intense cycle starting on Sunday. I'll be using 435 as my training max - 10 lbs off my 1RM set last week.
* The intense cycle is certainly ... intense Sunday's workout looks like this:

lovin' that view from behind (srsnohomo). i'm digging the wider stance more and more. it feels like i'm doing a shallow squat but because of shortened ROM i'm hitting depth. win-win! has helped me majorly with keeping upright, too, instead of being a master goodmorninger
